what do you rekon the best colour is on a cayman.... i seem to like 3... basalt black... guards red.... and grey.. what do u like

I am a big fan of Guards Red and another bright colour we don't mention in case any piston heads people are about. However my preference for the Cayman is Grey [:)] Mainly because the Cayman does not have the black soft top to contrast against the red.

Its not just the external colour its also the inside. Bassalt Black with Carrera Red leather. Its not just what you like its what works in the resale market.

Personally I disagree. It's 100% about what you like. I could never buy a car in colour x knowing that I prefer colour y. Anyhow, here's a vote for Speed Yellow!

Have to agree with Mike, the very idea of speccing a car for the benefit of its second owner seems mad to me. I specced mine exactly as I wanted it. It has depreciated anyway, but at least I have the satifaction of driving the car I wanted, not what the salesman advised. For what its worth, I specced mine with almost no options at all (only cruise and heated seats). No leather, no BOSE, no PASM, no metallic paint, no nuthin. Somehow the Cayman feels at its best to me in a very basic configuration like this, it feels more of a true simple Porsche sports car, rather than trying to be some complex luxury GT. If I was buying another one I would do exactly the same again, and the only option I would add would be climate control instead of the basic air-con (which frankly should be standard), and I might even delete the radio/CD altogether as it is pants and I never use it.

well mike i seem to like that colour now ive seen it on a decent pic... does look really nice...... John...... im enclined to agree with you slightly as i suppose there is also less to go wrong as well... maybe im looking for to much in a car with my budget of 25k... theres a couple for sale in lincoln on piston heads around that price are these worth a look cheers

YES, YES, YES [:D]

I am new to this forum - but thought I would have a look at topics on the Cayman,. I am in the process of putting a spec for a new Cayman and a stumbling block is this topic - colour !! It is much easier to choose if you see a specimen in a colour of your preferred choice - Basalt Black looks great with the aerokit, but I am thinking of the new cream white, perhaps more practical - an expensive option if one gets it wrong - no aerokit, but with black wheels and cocoa interior. I was wondering if anyone had seen any Porsche in this colour ? I am off to test drive a fully spec'd PDK Cayman S now - courtesy of my local dealer who is allowing me a full 24hrs with the machine ! Appreciate any comments !

i had a 997s in exactly that colour scheme-the kids begged me to buy it as it was SO COOL[:D] personally it was way too much for my nonextrovert taste but if you want admiring glances then go for it!!!!

Cheers - I hardly thought of it as extrovert ! - I too perhaps just wanted it to look 'class' as opposed to black with all the aerokit stuck on it, which is hard to turn down - but the salesman today was complementing on the scheme I was putting together - but that might just be down to the spec cost - I am sure the more you want the better for AFN ?! - Drove a fully spec'd CaymanS today - brilliant drive - looks like an order on the cards !! - I took a pdk 997s on the track last year and thought that was going to be the next car - but cannot justify it ! Thanks again for your comment.

Looks great and I must confess nearly opted for that as it was my initial choice - but got carried away and have just placed my order for a massive spec. including special colour cream white with basalt black 19" Carerra S 11 alloys - no aerokit though - did not think it went with colour - interior cocoa leather !

I have to admit to being a Red fan, in any car but especially in this one. Hopefully picking up Thursday :)

That said, there is a stunning Yellow one fro sale on Pistonheads, that very nearly got a look at. But it has to be red. Chris

Stunning Black !!!!! Me personally ? I would go for the Black and Red, definitely. Too much black just gets painful on my eyes lol Is this yours ??? Chris
