Best deals on parts

For the parts that the essential Bert Gear does not stock, who are members' favourite suppliers?

Big question, that could take hours to answer. What are you looking for ? I have found different people have differing levels of price / performance / competitiveness.

Must say I have been impressed with price and customer service dealing with Pelican Parts. I found, I could get big hollow torsion bars from the US for less than UK or German prices even once I paid freight, VAT and duty. Go figure. The selection is also much better in the US if you are looking for performance aftermarket parts.

Watch the exchange rates though - recently they have been very favourable and this makes a big difference.

Couldn't agree more about the deals to be had currently in the U.S. we get ripped off here there is no doubt about it. I recently paid £233.00 inc shipping for a Triad 2 in 2 out exhaust admittedly it's not stainless but it is a quality performance item backed up with dyno figures, what hollow torsion bars did you choose , Elephant?

Bones

It makes me weep when I see (a) the range and (b) the price of stuff available to the Yanks. Might just emigrate....

Talking of good deals, I can supply Teng tools at a good discount on list to PCGB members.

The 300 page catalogue is a fiver, refundable against a first order. Teng may not quite be Snap-On quality but they offer the same lifetime 'free replacement if it breaks in normal use' guarantee.

And, since you can't take them with you, your heirs can buy their own bloody tools! It's a great range and way better value.

Yeh I've noticed their prices are competitive. I'd like a price for torque wrenches, large and small torques.

Thanks Elliot, torque wrenches as you probably know are hard to evaluate until you actually use them. My current 'bargain buy' has a virtually inaudible click at the critical torque point and other cheaper ones I've used seem vague in their operation. It's not something I use a lot so I tried to save money and didn't !? This is a prime example of tools the club should hold and something I aim to push for soon along with an extended version of the 'Porsche Buddies' scheme

As an ex engineer Bones..... i have one and you will definately hear the click [;)]

Dont get excited about the 3/8 adaptor because its made of jelly ( mine snapped first use)[:D]
but i can recommend the wrench no problem

Torque wrenches are a personal thing.

I am not sure I would want to hire or borrow one - calibration can go right off if you drop it, or even store some types carelessly.
