Just found this old gold on youtube. A full 1/2 hr of Porsche cup awesomeness from the good ole days.

A true proponent of the drive it like you stole it style, IMHO easily the most consistently on the edge footage I have seen in our cars [8D].

Bet he drinks Carling Black Label...! [:D]

Its unreal the way he carries speed through the corners.. and the wet laps....!

One local expression from my homeplace fits quite well here "Keep 'er Lit Boy"... Thanks for that Neil....!

Cheers Donal [:)]. I watched it right through 4 times now, you are spot on about how much speed he carries into and through the corners but he gets away with it because his hands and throttle control is so quick. Many times he has to opposite lock a touch and feather the throttle yet he is maintaining so much momentum he still gets the run on the car in front. Awesome.

...bta Scott Goodyear is one of the most famous racers ever to come out of Canada so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised by his level of awesomeness.

Amazing. I bet there were a few comments afterwards about his treatment of the first ten cars or so! He'd have been pulled in at an amateur karting event, let alone a proper race, now. [&:]

What is also interesting is that for a 'control' series some are 'equaler than others' hehe. His car is clearly faster than some of his opponents. There was talk at the time of Cheater turbos, tricked up wastegates, different exhausts etc.

Still a great video and shows what driving on smaller / narrower tyres plus much softer spring rates is like. A lot more hand involvement.

Notice also how he flicks the ABS on and off at various parts of the track as shown by the (!) light.

Very entertaining.

There was talk here a few years ago that they had "celebrity" cars, where they could swap the chip to make a guest driver look better. It was explained to us all that this chip increased the output from 250 to 500 BHP.

Not everyone took it seriously. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Don't forget however that getting a better launch from a car on corner exit always makes the car look like it has more power [;)]. Its the most common complaint you hear at karting when guys are slow when really they are just not carrying enough speed out of the corners (its always the karts fault of course for having a weak engine). You can tell when a car really has more power is it catching cars coming out of corners or at the end of straights?

Nearly all the passes he makes in that video are as a result of either catching cars immediately following a bend or under braking into a bend, so IMHO I don't believe he has a big power advantage over the other cars.

Early on in the race it is easy as well to believe he just gets straight on it, this is a common problem for a lot of drivers and something I personally need to work on but I know I am not alone in this, many club drivers need a few laps to get going but the seasoned pros are on it straight away.

I am sure if some cars found 'extras' it would have been copied by most of the front running teams as seems to be the way of things.
