Best insurance company with track day cover

New member
Hi guys,

Just a quick question, I have been a member for 6 months now and until now have not had to renew my insurance. I am going to start phoning round this week and just wondered what companys are recommended by members and which ones we get a discount with. Also want one that will throw in a few free track days or cover at a reasonable cost.

Am with Direct Line at the mo and is around £1,300 for my 06 997 S which is not bad as I park on the street in London, but got clean licence and max NCB.

There may not be a simple answer to this but I just want to avoid that dreaded calling round process as much as possible as usually get fed up pretty quickly and just take the second lowest I come across.

Thanks for your help.

Hi.

What's your excess set at? Does your car have a tracking device?

I was with Direct Line last year but have moved to Admiral for all three of my cars this year. Go to Confused.com - this site is owned by Admiral.

I have a 2003 996, Tracker Monitor, no garage but parked on drive, £500 excess with £250 voluntary (total £750), clean licence and 19 years NCB (protected).

It seems to make a big difference if you value your car at below the magic £50K mark - which of course mine is!

I would personally rather run a higher excess (although it £500 compulsory on most cars like this now) and have a lower premium with a larger company. I would always try to fix any damage without claiming anyway as I don't want to tarnish my NCB.

Adrian.

Easy - Porsche Club (its actually Norwich Union via broker Marsh Private Clients). All PCGB events are covered in the policy - you just have to ring to ask for a cover note (which coincidentally I have just done for the Novices' event at Brands).

Excess £430, full NCD, garaged, tracker is not compusory if value below £75k, my premium £480 last year. I believe excess on a track day is 10% of vehicle value.

I think the majority of specialist brokers offer the trackday cover, the likes of directline I wouldn't expect to...

I'm with Performance marque who also cover club trackdays ..

A genuine quote (allegedly): "Did you say 'tractor'? Sorry, we don't insure tractors".

....sorry, Nigel! I forgot to say that my premium for this year was £294.97 [:)] - and there's the option for paying for track days but I've no idea how much they would be.

Adrian.

Thanks for all the advice. My excess is £700 and they won't cover me for track days so would have to get it through a private company for one percent of the value and a 10 percent value for excess.

Adrian cant believe your is under £300 will try your companies but dont think will get anywhere near that as parked in London street but will let you know how I get on.
