Best MPG

I know its not the point of the car but just wondered what people were getting in theses days of £1/l petrol

I will kick off

MPG only valid of its atleast 1 full tank. (min 60l)

Range 386miles
Used 65l
MPG 27

Mostly on M-way (about 200miles) the rest just the usual a road stuff. I think if i really tried i could get 500miles to a tank.

On the other hand i also think i could get about 175mph..

Mmmm decision.[:)]
 
Currently watching my MPG figures quite closely as I use the S2 as my company car and need to see if my mileage allowance covers costs [:(]

Last week on a run from home to Solihull and back - 350 miles, at a steady 70 - 95, I managed 34.9 mpg [:D] but it's usually around 30 - 32

As for the full tank figure, the fuel light is on now and I'll be filling it up later so I'll update you then.

Right, filled up now - 67.66 litres !!!!!!

After half a tank of town driving, followed by a two hour drive each way to the NEC (avg 87.5 mph [:)]) I've returned 28.4 mpg
 
A trip to Dorset & Devon the other Saturday in Turbot saw me fill up at 420 miles with reserve light still off. I know I can get more that 460 out of a tank ... Maximum speed for the trip was 82 MPH [:'(][:'(]
 
Just this week I had to brim both my tanks from well into the orange light

S2 was the best ever, having done 474 miles. I squeezed in 64 litres which I work out to be 33 MPG (at 4.5 litres to the gall)

Turbo was 427 miles and I needed 73 litres to fill which I work out at 26mpg

This is 90% motorway or fast dual carriageway driving on my 80 mile daily commute
 
Not going to check - thats nearly as bad as adding up the spend figure - I did it for the first (cheap I thought) year not doing it again.

Im not sure of the MPG for the turbo as I just put some fuel in it then set about using it all[:D]. However when I had my old 2.5 Lux I had the misfortune of having to drive all the way from Stansted to Newquay Behind a mates old VW Camper at an average speed of 50 ish - I did 310 Miles on half a Tank! - Prior to that I was Lucky to See 380 Miles of 'FUN' from a tank.
 
Hiya all, I always fill my car up full and then fill her up again when the light shows a flicker or when the needle hits the red, my average drive is 3 miles to work - stop start and then the same journey back with 2 motorway trips a week of which I give it 90 ish plus so I always get about the same on a full tank - 65 llitres ish and between 288 - 298 miles which I calculate to be 21.9 mpg, I dont know but I think this is about what I expected due to the short journeys [:mad:]

I find my mix of 120 miles motorway at 90ish and 45 miles of A-road at 40-70 regularly gets the light on at around 360 miles. I quite often push it to 400 before I fill and that normally means 70-75 litres. I'm too tired to work that out...
 
What impact does running the airc con have on MPG? I have just had mine fixed.
Without it running I seem to get between 280-320 per tank.
 
It's supposed to take one or two mpg, which is better than having a window or sunroof open, but I have never really noticed the difference as mine is on virtually all the time at the moment
 
Right now mine is at its most fuel efficent, i do zero miles but put zero fuel in it. Its one expensive garden ornament i can tell you!!!
 
I got just over 29mpg out of the two tankfulls to Le Mans and back...

... in my defence I was in convoy with a 1954 Alvis Grey Lady that gave the driver vibration white finger if he went much above 70mph (he only lost sight of us on a couple of occassions due to boost related incidents [:D])
 
I am averaging 30mpg each week which is a 360 mile round trip on the motorway at 85 - 90 and town driving at each end which I'm happy about. Pretty good for a 3ltr car [:D]

I get a range of consumptions, depending, obviously, on what I am doing, however I always check what the consumption has been after every fill-up and keep a log. This may sound a bit sad, but it is something I inherited from my dad, so to speak, and I am an accountant (enough said).[8|]

My best fuel consumption was racing back from 'Les Vosges' (Eastern France near the Swiss border) for the ferry, on a variety of fast N roads and autoroutes I managed a whisker under 35mpg.[8D]

I have also managed 500 miles on a tank once or twice, my biggest fill up has been 77 litres (the tank is 80 litres or 17.6 gallons), which is a bit disappointing if you have heard of Clarkson's fuel light bingo game.[&o]

Here is something interesting, at last, I find my usual give and take driving on mixed roads, town, A and m-way give me around 28 mpg in summer but only around 26 mpg in winter. Anybody else had the same experience? Surely petrol expands a little in warmer temperatures so you should fill up a little less a therefore do worse not better?

Its because of the extra load you put on the engine from rear screen, wipers, lights, heater etc. And the fact the car takes longer to warm up. All contributes to worse MPG.
