Having recently got back into Porsche Ownership with a 94 993 (which I promised myself I would not immediately take apart and renew every part I could!) I have, through necessitaty initially, taken it apart to renew every part I can!

As I'm sure most of you are aware this can be an expensive business......

I have rejoined PCGB and used the new ( to me) Porsche Glasgow near Ikea for some little parts. Very swanky and modern but not sure how eager they would be to discuss oily bits of an old 993!

At the risk of amplifying the East West divide is Porsche Edinburgh or Porsche Glasgow better for parts procurement........I'm right in the middle geographically.

Any thoughts........

I have been re-building my 944 S2 for a while now. I have bought most of the parts from Glasgow and I find them to be fantastic. Danny and John will both happily chat oily bits. The first thing you need to do is get a copy of the Pet catalog for your car ( you can get it online) it makes it easier to find the parts you want. I've been in to collect parts and been offered coffee when the value of what I am buying is less than the value of the coffee. The dealer principal at Glasgow is also a keen restorer and I think this along with the enthusiasm of the parts guys make Glasgow my OPC of choice.

I have always dealt with Glasgow for service parts etc for many a long year mainly due to location and have a good working relationship with all the staff and have been given very generous discounts over the years .I have also used Edinburgh in the past .

My recent purchase was from Edinburgh and because of this and the service plan and warranty included i will continue to use there services which i feel is only right
I think you build up trust with a dealer and he too has to do the same with the client ,no one will give away discounts you have got to ask and go with who you feel deserves your hard earned cash .

My vote would be for Edinburgh and that's from a Westy! I've tried both centres and I've found the guys in the Edinburgh Parts and Service more accommodating with their pricing. I've found OPC Glasgow to be very helpful but that's the price take it or leave it. Don't forget Dingbro or Euro Car Parts if your handy with the spanners. I've just replaced my front discs, pads, brake dampeners and springs for £163 all in with oem parts from Euro Car Parts, but go into the branch as you'll get a better price than the on line price even with a promotion code.

The guys I share garage space with have accounts at GSF, Euro,Dingbro,TMS and Partco with great discounts, I have used all of these companies for parts during my rebuild but there are things that you can only get from Porsche ( or would only want to buy from Porsche) and for these bits Glasgow are fantastic. I have been buying bits from them since 1994 and would never go past them. Although If John or Danny left then it might be a different story.
