Best place for MOT

Good afternoon
I have been away most of the summer so have not been able to be involved in the forum as much as I would have wished but I am now back. However, my 2006 Boxster S is up for its MOT in January, I would be garteful for any advice on the best way to go about this as I had a company car for 15 years before and I am now a little out of touch. I bought my car from Porsche in Sutton Coldfield and now live in Moreton in Marsh (very near PCGB HQ) and I have 2 questions:
1. Does anyone know a good garage I can take the car to near Moreton for the MOT and hope it passes....
2. If it fails (and I give myself enough time) can I then get it to Porsche to undertake any work (and hence keep the Porsche warranty alive) and get them to retest?
I am juts trying to avoid going back to Sutton as I don't think they had MOT facilities

Many thanks in advance
Mark

If you live by Porsche HQ at Calcot (junction 11 M4) just get them to do it .. drop off car .. they take it and get it done, pick up later .. loan car if needed ..

Simples :)

I always get my MoT's done at what used to be Nationwide Autocentre - now Halfords Autocentre - as they seem to always have a half price deal so it's only £27. They've never tried for additional work, and do a thorough and professional job at my local (Ashford Kent) branch.

Best place for an MoT? Anywhere other than an OPC - no temptation to do a ton of unnecessary work!

Mark, I've always had mine done by Porsche Centre Swindon (they are an MoT test centre). In fact, I had it done earlier this week and it went through fine wiith no advisories. All I can say is that in 5 years they have never made any attempt to try to pick up any work from the test. Although there many test centres nearer to me, I like to give the car a good run beforehand to make sure the engine is nice and warm to avoid any emission issues caused by testing a cold engine. Personally, I would avoid Halfords like the plague. In my experience, they can't even manage to check over a kid's pedal bike competently.
