Beware of treachorus road conditions

Today I was exiting J28-M25 into a normally 3rd gear 50mph curve and my S2 was showing a bit sliding on the tail but luckily it adjusted itself without any dramratic effort from the driver. Phew [8|]

Since I don't have an outside temp thermometer but I guess it was about 2C and the road surface was a bit wet (maybe with black ice too). So please drive carefully particularly the current wintry weather conditions.

Good call Charles... I use my 944 daily and find there is a dramatic difference in driving styles between dry days and 'oh oh it looks like rain', without adding the ice and snow. I've had the car sideways exiting a roundabout in just damp road conditions (not intentionally, my wife was in the car at the time and if her looks could kill!...).

To be honest, i blame the car (it wouldnt be me, eh?), if it wasn't so dam good at handling the road in the dry, the over confidence round corners wouldn't be a problem in the wet conditions.... [:D]

It's in the 944 Register Manual.

"Every November issue, warn them about the slippery roads."

You might have noticed that "get an agreed-value policy" and "carry a spare DME relay" are also regularly repeated......[:)]

I just got in from work and the roads are hazardous, plus there was loads of police about too. Even roads that had been gritted weren't safe as the constant rain/freeze/rain/freeze that has happened all night washed it away. There was ice in places i really wasn't expecting them too - some of the main roads on the way home.

Pretty bad up here too. Took the 4 x 4 out today, sliding on roundabouts etc., Trouble is 4x4's are just the same as any other car in the ice [&:]

Safe driving everyone [;)]

My Turbo is still off the road (it's not been a good few months for my car), but walking the dog out there at 7am in the morning is bloody treacherous! Wellies are not the grippiest of things on sheet ice, it turns out.

Yes, we have that darned "global warming" to thank for the unusually very cold start to winter and the icy driving conditions.[;)]

They call it 'climate change' now: to stop terrorists* like you from dissenting.

*anyone not agreeing with Big Gordon is a terrorist now...

Had a really big slide in my Focus van this morning at 5:40am approaching a roundabout... Had to go for the handbrake ended up at a perfect 90deg angle to the kerb, and kept going... Love to have seen it from outside... Did someone say the WRC is in town[:D][:D]

At least I can laugh about it now..... Lets be careful out there lads

This morning was erm....fun, well the turbo is safley tucked up - but I went a sliding in my daily driver anyway!

3 cars off the road on my way into work this morning - not me fortunately but there were emergency services out in force to slow us down.
Not a great start to the day for those unfortunate drivers.

I remember going to a trackday at Bedford autodrome a few years back in convoy with a few 944's, I was towards the rear and was delighted to watch at least a couple of 944's gracefully arc their way around the roundabout (on a private road naturally). I thought to myself 'I'm having some of that' and went in with trailing throttle and gave it a bit of a boot mid way round. It was at that point I discovered that the cars in front may not have attended to do it [:)] I guess it was a diesel spill or similar. All good fun, and no harm done (the side windows were clean so I could see where I was going [;)]), but I was ready for a strong coffee by the time we arrived!

It pains me to admit that I fell foul of conditions today [:(][:(][:(]

The quiet suburban road I was driving along had accumulated layers and layers of wet leafy mulch from the centuries old planting of huge oak trees along the kerb. Unfortunately as I pulled up to park I didn't realise that this huge pile of mulch actually obscured a particularly nasty kerb which joyfully bit a huge six inch chunk out of my front wheel []

It's amazing how much clearer a kerb graze is to see when you have painted your wheels black - doh [8|]

Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow before the Cornbury meet on Sunday

Lol! So true [:D]

I seem to be fated with journeys to the Autodrome, another time I was heading over and was badly cut up by a transit at another roundabout (I was fully alongside as we entered but he tried to squeeze me off the road despite knowing I was there), this irritated me slightly [] (I'm not a morning person at the best of times) and after some avoiding action I floored it past them on the following dual carriageway only to break the hinge on my throttle pedal...

This meant I had little throttle control at light openings, fine for track use, but a bit tricky to pull away from a standstill. So guess who stops along side me at the traffic lights? Yep, a police traffic car. I do my best not to stall or wheel spin away and am feeling rather pleased with myself only to see the blue lights come on. We pass the usual pleasantries and they claim they stopped me as my tyres looked bald. Cue much scrutiny but thankfully they confirmed what I knew, that the shoulders were nicely buffed from previous trackdays but perfectly legal. Of course pulling away from a standstill in front of them was one of the most nerve wracking experiences ever [:)]

Sorry, gone a bit OT again!

Ouch! Nearly did something similar last week, was leaving a local theatre in the fog at night only to find that they'd removed a traffic calming bollard and sign but left the kerbing...

round abouts are lethal . I'm sure it is diesel spillage from trucks .

I wrote my first Lux off at 20mph on a r a bout after 9 years of trouble free driving[]
