Bier Crate Conundrum

Late last Summer a German friend called Hartwig Rietz AKA Hacki AKA Captain Awesome came to stay in England. He arrived bearing gifts from his Faterland - Bier natürlich! A crate of Veltins was consumed and, where others would discard the crate as abfall, it has come in very useful as a handy seat when polishing the lower extremities of a 964 RS.

But recently I discovered something about the 'crate'. There's a hidden meaning to the gift. I don't even know if Capt. Awesome realised. Perhaps it was his subconscious mind urging him to buy this brand at the getränkemarkt. I've attached a pic...

There's a virtual Veltins for anyone who can tell me what's so special about my crate...

In answer to Hacki's emails: it's not because Veltins is within "Achtung!" distance of the Möhne Dam, or because Veltins advertised on Cup Cars - although the latter might have something to do with the deal. Some kind of contra-deal perhaps? What's Porsche's connection to the Veltins Crate?

If I had known that, I would have polished the crate before bringing it. (In fact, my mate Michael brought it.)
So, you´re sitting on a crate that Butzi´s company designed while you´re polishing the car that Butzi signed - special, Rich, very special.
Let´s say, that´s doing the job in style.

Mel should wear the icecream man´s uniform when he loads his trailer - just to match the 964RS register´s standards, that you´ve set now.

Let´s see what it will be this year... (Hope I´ll be able to make it, Kop Hill is on the list.)

Keep up the banter,

Hacki
