hi

is anyone going to the big breakfast on Easter Sunday or have been to previous ones? I was thinking of going to kick the season off and wondered what sort of event it was.

Didn't realise there was a fish and chip meet in the diary. Will put my name down for that next.

regards

Jonathan

Hi Jon,
unfortunately we are away in Thiland that weekend.
Its a big petrol head meet with all markes of metal on display. One of my favourites was an RS 200 Turbo in full rally spec. Its a must for car enthusiasts. Just watch out for the boys in blue on route they are out and about, enjoy and have a butty for me, cheers Jon.

As Jon says, it's a massive petrol head gathering, expect literally thousands to show up.

People start turning up from 7.30!! Be early if you want to get parked up on the estate, they operate a one-way system so look out for marshals. Goes on until around lunch time, and you can expect to see almost anything.

As others have put, there is usually a massive turnout. All sorts of cars, although the high end stuff is less in evidence than previously - probably as a result of the struggle to get parked somewhere nice on the industrial estate, and a growing number of more "chavvy" types (can't think of a better way of putting it!). Last year I was there for ~8.15 and still ended up in the overflow parking in a field. It may actually be beneficial to turn up later nowadays (say after 11) when some of the crowd have moved on. Having said all this, I'll probably go along, just maybe in the tintop!

i agree with the way you have put it Steve, never again for me....

Unfortunately looks like I will not have the 993 back on the road in time – overrunning works (where have I heard that before). I used to enjoy these mornings but has been said above it is becoming a bit of a chav fest.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Sounds like its probably better just to head out for a drive. I can see this being an early start just to fret about where the car gets parked.

Jonathan - I guess you need to make your own mind up on whether to go. I'm unduly overprotective about my Spyder (I need to be a bit more easygoing about it!) so tend to be a bit precious about where I park up. In all fairness, the overflow car park is OK and I've parked mine in there last year with no problem (although it was dry enough not to be muddy). If you do go, check out the Buttercrambe to Malton road, which makes a nice alternative to sitting on the A64.

Hi Steve, was it your Spyder I saw parked up on the West Cliff at Whitby on Monday?

It was a white Spyder the same as yours, we had to adjust our stroll to the beach to have a looksee, it was a beauty??

I'm definitely the same way about mine Steve. It'll take me a couple of hours to get there from Sheffield (no fun going up the M1!). So it would be a very early start. Probably see how I feel about it nearer next weekend.

Definitely making the the run to Whitby though, so I'll try your road recommendation that day if I don't go up for the breakfast meet.

Disappointing this year, no bacon or sausage left by 9.30am, no high end stuff except one McLaren. It is spoilt now as already said, probably won't go again.
