Bike carrying ?

Guest

Hi All,

I'm a potential future 993 owner and aim to buy by the end of the year (will the prices drop when the Cayman comes out?? Should I wait ?? Should I buy a targa ?? Too many choices ! [:)])

Anyhoo, I have a question for the assembled....

Has anyone come across a bike carrying solution for the 993 (non Cabrio) ? I like to go and play on my mountain bike, so it would be nice if there was a way I could cart it around.

thanks all

Neal.

The correct way to do it is to use the Tequipment Load Carrier System (a roof rack to you and me). Part number 993 801 055 000 for Coupe and 993 801 055 02 for Targa. You then buy the additional Bicycle Carrier (part number 000 044 000 048) and Bicycle Lock (part number 000 044 000 49). You can also get Ski and Surfboard carriers for it as well [:D]

I am not sure you can get this any more. If you can I can't imagine it is anything other than expensive.

There is no tow bar attachement on the 993 (Porsche never got TUV approval for towing) and therefore nowhere to attach a cycle carrier (plus the rear spoiler going up and down gets in the way). I can't think of another way of carrying the bike other than using the roof rack.

Thanks for that - can't get a more accurate response than that :)

Will do some hunting and see where I can pick something up from.

Been there done that! As it has rain gutters the old style roof rack (like your Dad probably had for the cortina[:D]!) will fit .I got mine from roofracks.co.uk or something like that then get a bike carrier to fit the square section bars(halfords do these) then you're in business all in just over £100 mind thats 2 years ago.

Hey, how did you know my dad had a cortina, with a rain gutter roofrack ? :)

That's fantastic news - opens up the (affordable) possibilities enormously. thanks.
