Bike rack on 58 plate Boxster

Anyone know of a bike rack suitable for use on a 58 plate Boxster? Yes, I know it's an odd question but I would like to know if anyone has found one that actually works without any risk to the car. Thanks.

Dear SMR072

Here's link to an American supplier (BIRD Automotive - with a GB contact point):

http://www.birdautomotive.com/Bike%20Rack%20Boxster-2.htm

They seem to offer bike racks for all the Boxster models.

Also look on the Planet-9 981 chat section (a lively, friendly and informal USA forum on all things Porsche) for current discussion of this topic:

I know it says Cayman & 981 but they do discuss Boxsters including non 981 variants.

I was interested in the luggage carrying variant of the Bird offerings as a solution to carrying a flat tyre.

...hope this helps

PS A Brompton folding bike will fit in the front luggage compartment of a 981, I don't know if this is the case for older Boxsters. Whilst a Brompton is not a mountain bike it will get you to some surprising places. I use it for the long walk-in sections when climbing/walking in the Highlands.

PPS Why should Del boy, Rodney and Trig (AKA the Spyder forum) have all the best pictures...

Thanks - I have seen the Bird carrier and wonder if anyone out there has seen it in the flesh and knows how easy it actually is (or isn't) to do the bits they say you need to do yourself for attaching it to the car?
