Bike rack

(Yes I know, before you say anything, I should buy a second car!

As far as I can tell there are two preferable options for bike racks on the 986:
  1. Porsche RTS. But from what I can tell from reading previous posts, this is costly, and is a bit offputting when having the roof down as well as being noisey in the wind.
  2. A non-Porsche rear boot mounted device such as the Bird Automotive (which seems to be the preferred choice). This seems to be easy to mount and prevents contact with the paintwork. But means you can't access the rear boot when it is in action due to the strap position (to allow the spoiler to work).
Has anyone actually used the Bird style rack or equivalent? Is it any good? Any other prodcucts people are aware of?

Can you fit a tow-bar to a Boxster? If so, I'd be tempted by a tow-bar-mounted bike rack - will keep the bike(s) well clear of the body work and hide them down in some of the wake of the slip stream. You can then also get at the boot no hassle.

Down side is they are heavier and move the centre of gravity more than a boot mounted rack.

You can get one in the USA that screws in to the towing eye hole.
I don't think it is legal in the UK though...?
