Hi, can anyone tell me how i can stop the bird droppings from etching into the paintwork. The car is reguarly waxed with auto glym sr polish or megs high tech wax, but it does not protect it.
would something like jet seal 109 seal the paint so not to let the acid in droppings damage the clearcote.
I have to t cut the paint to get rid of it every time, but it do not get rid of it completely all the time. Please help!

daws, I use swissol clay, cleaner and wax and it seems to protect the car very well. It just takes yonks to apply though[:(]

My advice would be, "prevention is better than cure" - always rinse off the bird droppings as soon as you notice them and try not to park under trees.

If you do get a problem, then Mcguires also do a car detailing kit which contains clay, lubricant and polishing cloth. Available from Halfords for about £25.

Hi
I had an Autoglym 'Lifeshine' put on our cars and it seems to help stop any pitting/marking by bird poo.
Mine does get hit by the local strafing seagulls from time to time but despite it being on for a few days it doesn't seem to affect it.
Might be worth looking at the Lifeshine (or other similar treatments) - I'm not connected with autoglym, I should hasten to add, just a pleased customer.
Good luck.

A month ago I had a bird leave some quite corrosive droppings- I removed it within 10 minutes of the attack, in which time it had eaten through Zymol Glasur and etched the paint.
I clayed, HD cleansed, Scratch X'd and there is still some paint marring. Luckily its on the spoiler and doesn't look too obvious.

This happened to me a year ago, unfortunatly the bird did its business on a hot day and I didn't notice it. It completely removed the clear coat as it dried and shrank. I have since learned that the thing to do is to leave a damp sponge on it before you try to remove it. I had no luck with Mcguires, its good at removing flies etc but won't help if it's already etched a mark. I got rid of one mark by using a drill with a buffing attachment and gave it a gentle buff with T cut, but be very careful not to get it hot, keep stopping, wipe off and check the mark.
