On the S2

very loud while accelerating and rattley while stationary - silences on the depression of the Clutch.

Now its been like this since I bought the car and been pretty loud since way back according to the seller but is there anything I can do or be concerned with?

On a related note or maybe not related the coin holder and coins within get SERIOUSLY hot on long Journeys...random?

Gearchange and clutch are smooth as ever and 100%

Anyone have any ideas?

They all rattle whilst stationary and in neutral with the clutch out - it's the idler gear in the box.

You shouldn't really be able to hear the box whilst accelerating (unless you have no rear carpet). It's always worth changing the gearbox oil as a first course of action. It should be changed every 4 years, but there are a lot of cars that never have this done - possibly the ones that now have noisy boxes [&o]

The transmission tunnel does get warm on long journeys - I presume the coin holder is an aftermarket fitting on top of it?

Coin holder! haha I mean ashtray!

I thought that where everyone kept their coins?

Cool, they are a bit rattly noisey by nature, Might get the oil swapped too.
