Bit the bullet and bought one!

Hmmm the 911uk.com forum is definately quiet! Few mods, whilst owning her in such short time. ive taken the standard front Porsche seats out, and have to say they are very very heavy! Well, in comparison with the Recaro Pole position bucket seats. The bucket seats I have owned for a while now, which were trimmed for my TT at the time, is an exact match to the colour trim in the 964. So decided to order some new subframes, and hey presto! from

but would love to change, if not get the doorcards stripped and made into plain RS ones. And possibly odds and sods on the way :?: If you guys can point me to doorcards, rear carpet maybe, that would be great.

Does anyone here know the history of this car? maybe you have seen this car before...tell me more! Lastly for now, ive changed the cup wheels, which I love dearly with the RS look. But have bought these wheels,on the Ap Car design Porsches.

At last I eventually bought a 964, bit the bullet now im a proud owner of a nice C4.

As you know, I have been on here for some time and im sure ive spoken to you guys before, finding the Holy Grail! I did find it, the perfect 964 I had put a deposit on was let down due to reluctant sale. So the sale was incomplete!

It was then a case of looking and looking, but the same old story I guess you guys have been facing when buying one of these.

I came to my senses and realised that these cars can never be perfect and will be an ongoing story and build through years of ownership.

Well here she is, a white 964 C4, 92 year with low miles but certainly well looked after by Porsche and Porsche specialists, not forgetting the previous Porsche Owners club owners. She was bought from Strasse in Leeds, a bunch of EXCELLENT, I mean absolutely great bunch of guys, even the gaffa[:D] Dave, Charlie, Chris and everyone else.

The car runs on lowered H&Rs, with Cup wheels at the time, overhauled calipers, new brakes, odd new rubber seals, serviced, MOTd, and whatever I pointed out was sorted before purchasing.

An absolute gen to drive and smiling all the time!

Oh thanks to you guys for the advice too!

Congratulations & welcome ! Hope you find plenty of little jobs to sort & bond with your lovely 964 & no nasty surprises.

Love the colour of the car - congratulations (personally I'm not 100% about the new wheels - but perhaps they are OK close up)

I prefer the cups personaly, not saying that the new ones are not nice, just that the 964 suits Cup 1's so much.

Yep i know what your saying guys! it was so difficult to take these off, because the cup wheels for me makes the 964 RS, thats why I love them so much. These new wheels are a little bit different, and obviously ties in with the motorsport theme used by a fair few Germans and Belgiums, and do look very nice on some of the RS tuning and Cult Society cars abroad. If you refer to the AP-car design cars, they do attract you to them. Hopefully when I have time, I should be trying on some BBS Magnesium split rims which would be my ideal wheel for the car. But hey, each to their individual taste! At the moment I am loving the use of it, and driving experience, as I have owned and driven a fair few Porsche, but really my background is the love of VWs. I guess these are a more of a grownup Vw[;)]

Looks great and the PPs look to have been re-trimmed very nicely [:)]. I love the PPs in mine but was worried when we did long trips that the wife would complain about them being uncomfortable. But she says they are actually more comfortable on long trips than the original seats and his happy to put up with them being so awkward to get in and out of [:D]

Hey Steve, Yes the PPs are very comfortable on long distances. We have driven around Europe in these seats many times, and the misses hasnt complained yet. I must admit they are comfy than the normal seats, but cannot get the gangster lean![:D] Whilst fitting them, the comparison between the two seats was the weight. The original Porsche seats are so heavy! Ive heard the problem before with these, and mine at moment seems to be not low enough. Are yours in fabric?

Hi Norm, Mine are synthetic leather with suede cushions. Getting them low enough is a common complaint. Especially on sunroof cars (which are the most common version). The recaro side mounts are to blame. Luckily I was advised of this when I bought mine and bought specially made side mounts that are made and supplied only by 'Southbound trimmers'. I got the sliders from the same time but these are actually recaro sliders with a couple of extra holes pre-drilled in them to fit the mounts to. The mounts also have a welded in nut to fit the seat belt receiver to. Let me know if you want pics.

Hello Norm , Nice looking car you have there, but then i am biased as mine is a white c2. I was wondering if you are selling your cup 1s as mine could do with a re-furb. regards Paul

Yes Steve, ive seen the side mounts advertised and mentioned with Southbound trimmers. My subframes where bought from Design911, as I already had the seats for a while with different subframes. The new subframes still need redrilling too! Will give you a shout Steve, when I get a chance to change the sidemounts. Must say thanks 1st! Would like a cage for the car and possibly the rear carpet. The carpet I was pointed out can be bought from Southbound, but if any of you guys can point me the right direction for the cage, would be helpful. Prefab.com was recommended for cage, anyone know the website?

Paul, I will give you a shout when I do decide to sell the cup1s, as at the moment I still love them Thanks for the comment, would like to see your C2, any pics?

Hi Chris, Yes AP if you look carefully on the project cars are Split looks, and the ones advertised are too! Hopefully I want the car to how I want it......A1. As I come from a background of building showcars in the VW world. Hence me saying before that the car will be stripped down painted, and all the trims, light lens, rubbers, handles, badges, gromets will be all replaced with brand new stuff. Why you ask, well have an OCD of cars being perfect, and little things like stonechips, marks, etc really irritate me. Plus when you have been in any showscene, building cars and judging (not as far as concours) you become very fussy. Especially with paint, as sandmarks, dry edges, 'fish eyes', reaction and paint has to be spot on. Oh its Norm, as Bruce is a name I made up, you will realise when you get to meet me!ha

Have a word with Matt Friend about a cage. Matt is known to many of us on here (username Demonfish) and after many years of stripping and fettling cars (including his current 964 C2 track car) has set up his own track car servicing business. You can contact him here: http://tracktoys.co.uk/

Lol no probs Norm! Im interested in your show car background. Have you built any Veedubs that I may have seen? Ive just "graduated" from the world of Jap show cars and im new to the whole Euro / Clean look, but im going to give it a go over time on my 964 :) Keep up the good work! Chris

Hello Chris,, I was in the showcar background for a while, until just recent I stood back from it all. With the VW scene, it has been great fun, and is a lot more involved with a lot of the shows in Holland, Belgium, Austria let alone some of the bigger venues in the UK. I am sure you have seen the odd cars of mine, as my TT was one of those that started the Bentley wheel craze around the world on cars it wasnt supoose to be on. Anyway, heres some pics....
