paid £77k, porsche gave me £52k after 12 months. not impressed. as such will probably not buy a porsche again. am now looking towards a f430. enjoyed the club meets. take care.

That's a horrible hit - but you don't need telling that []

Just want to say you will still be welcome to come along to regional meetings - with or without the Ferrari [:)]

Unfortunately, the 'depreciation' issue isn't unique to Porsche. The whole prestige market is vulnerable [&o].

Ferraris are particularly high risk. The new F430 is 'currently' in high demand, but give it a couple of years, or a down-turn in the economy, and the depreciation could be titanic.

At least a Porsche can be used everday, and can live with higher mileage.

Thanks Mark. Much appreciated.

The dealership people were great. Porsche UK...

£25k in one year is a bit steep.

Sorry you have had this experience. I just wonder which OPC to which you sold it - so that one can find out for how much they are trying to sell it.

Call me cynical, but....

Ouch, that must hurt but I agree with the others that depreciation isn't limited to Porsches, just something that they were cushioned from before. My friend sold a C4S last month and only lost £8k in a year - private sale helps and the car was modestly spec'd.

We all know the dealers won't pay good money for cars but I wonder if "Xmas Tree" spec had something to do with the big loss (Green with shiny things?).

Hope next purchase goes well, F430 is a good way to console yourself [8D]

Mine lost 16K in 15 months.
I swapped it in at the dealer 18 months ago for the turbo.

I guess the 997 arrival, lack of any shortage and the arrival of the 997 have conspired against you.
This is also one of the reasons I plan to keep the turbo.
I mentioned to the delaers that the cost of changing the car is more important than the actual cost of the vehicle. As the older ones depreciate more, then they will find it harder to sell new ones to their existing customers. I strongly expect demand to slacken off and their sales figures to decline. There is a limit to how many new customers they can gain.

some friends think the 997 turbo would be a good bet. my other concern is the number of 997's - i'm not convinced the 997 was a far enough jump (design wise) from the 996 + there are so many variations = depreciation. Porsche must keep the 911 more exclusive.
