Black Cayman R at Brooklands

Hi Tony

Maybe add a bit more information or maybe a link to the Brooklands web page

& I've sent you a private email of a friends Black Cayman R that maybe still

available & For Sale just in case your interested in looking at that too.

Tricky to say, but as you asked

Black is the worst seller

It's PDK so the worst seller

It only has sports seats so the worst seller.

but it is priced cheaper for a 18k mile car because of the 3 items talked about, one can pay £50k for a white fully speced car these days, so £42k with 2 year warranty seems ok if you like the spec.

me on a personal note I would go for a 981 if PDK and sports seats were a must have.

Tony,

As Kevin said a bit more information or better a link would help but from what MrD says it's black which is very popular if the number of Caymans seen about is to be believed and that includes at some turnouts certainly of the 987, black does show up every blemish is a devil to keep clean etc but as in everything pay your money it's your choice.

Not everyone likes the carbon seats which have only fore and aft adjustment no tilt etc although it may be possible using tools to remount and if they don't suit the driver they can be very uncomfortable, the reclining sports seats are at least comfortable and adjustable plus being easier and less painful to get in/out of, it's your choice, PDK is very good but the operating side ( Clutches, hydraulics etc need flushing and changing of the fluid at 6 years immaterial of mileage, I just had mine done and it made quite a difference, possibly due to aeration in the fluid or degradation of the same ), most R's will be approaching this age.

I have known some who had wished that they had air con in the summer, The R has no A/C as standard as it was only available as an option but it depends on the usage you have planned.

Suspension is stiffer than the std S but some have PASM which gives you the option of a soft or hard ride, I have it on my S along with PDK and find it an advantage as the soft setting means he's not so prone to travel sickness which he's growing out of anyway.

The steering in the 987's ( all models ) is of the hydraulic power steering type and gives better feel than the later cars which have the electronic power steering which most find has little feel to it, so if it is an R you are set on try whatever you can, the R is lightened with, you will have gathered some reduction in the comforts unless specified to have such, I hope that you get more responses from owners who like their differently spec'd cars to get a good image of what you're looking for.

I rather think he did. I met a new Cayman R owner at the club open day on Sunday and he was highly delighted with his recent purchase of a silver Cayman R PDK etc, enjoy your cars guys spring is coming on and time to enjoy them!
