Black Rubber Button

Hi there

I noticed a round black rubber button just in front of the fuse box in the drivers footwell (its not the spolier button thats on the fuse box cover) and next to the drivers side door. You can see it on the picture I've attached. Doesn't seem to be mentioned in the drivers manual, so am wondering if this is something someone has added at some point in the car's life.

Is this button meant to be there? Any idea what its for?

Cheers
Greg

Best not to ask too many questions.

Some things are better left unsaid...

If you look in your V5 the previous owner will probably be a member of the local Al-Qaeda cell.
This is a standard option ordered by them.
Your local OPC will be deactivate the switch for you.......at a price!

I'm not sure if this is one of them but I know that there used to be a hell of a lot of unused buttons hanging around on the market following the end of the Cold War. However, these ones were generally red - it might be a respray. Peel back the rubber and see if there's any black paint on the carpet. If there is then I'd say you've unwittingly inherited the ability to cause some real bother! If I were you I'd gaffer tape a thimble or something similar over it. Best of luck, and for Gods sake - watch where you're putting your feet!!

Got to be worth it whatever the cost. The dire consequences of not getting it fixed could be severe.

is it the make things in your rear view mirror disappear very quickly button... or is that a bit to the left of it?

No clue. Is it really some type of switch or something that just got stuck onto the carpet. Can you even see it if the door is closed.

Mystery (and speculation!) over. I traced the wires half way back through the car and eventually found clipped wire ends. So whatever it used to be connected to, isn't there any more! Don't know if it used to have a sports exhaust or something, but its now just a button waiting to connect to something!!

See above. Looks as though most of the viable options for any mod' you might have planned have been listed! [:D]

And there was me thinking that it was an old blackcurrent wine gum that the old owners child had stuck there when his parent enforced the "no eating" ban in his nice new 996!
