Now then gentlemen.

Does anyone know anyone selling or thinking about selling a rust free, excellent example of this model?. I am a CASH buyer and I want to purchase a really great one so that I can keep it a long time.

All the best for Christmas and the new year.

Thankyou ,, ,, yes,, that ones been for sale for ages.. and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it really very very expensive for an SC.. bearing in mind that it is resprayed and that could hide a host of problems.... for a mint SC I was thinking more along the lines of £9k which I believe is the general concensus on here.....

but again, thankyou for the info, much appreciated.

Don't wish to dampen your enthusiasm for a great car but I doubt you'll find a minter (there really can't be many out there) for 9K I base that on more than twenty years of experience with these cars, if you are in the right place at the right time you may get lucky, it's all about timing in that case whereas 'plan B' is research, at least 11K (we're talking mint here) and probably patience. Good Luck, if you want a chat call me, my number is in the back of PP.

Oh.. thanks again.. in some of my first posts on this subject I thought that 8-9k was about the mark everyone agreed on.. must be my mistake as you lot are the experts. How do I get hold of a PP when I'm not a member yet. I thought you could only join when you own a car.??

Anyway.. off to settle-in with the thought of re-adjusting my budget..!!!

I think you can join as an associate you don't need a car ring up HQ and they'll tell you.

Think in your original posts the estimates for a good one was £10 to 12k - thread is here. I remember Ian saying Paul recently paid £11,500 for his tidy red Targa.

Hi.. I wasn't being funny.. .. I knew i was in the wrong.. my memory is not what it should be.. hahaha b~gger.

Well keep your eyes peeled.. its all very exiting to know that I'm going to have something twenty years ago I idolised and thought would always be out of reach.. GREAT..

We're all on the look out for you David, but any really nice SC is a job to find, particularly RHD. Mint black coupes must be seriously thin on the ground going by the offerings I have seen over the last three years, so the colour itself might cost a few quid. But the more people running these cars for the long-haul the better, and there is more bang for your buck in an SC than a Carrera in my opinion, so if we can help find you one then great.

They have a name for being the ideal 'starter 911' but they are just so much better than that title implies; especially when you do a few simple jobs to make the inherent technology more effective, and obviously look after them properly. Motor magazine got 0-60 in 5.8 seconds out of an SC cab and 148+ mph. 0-100 in 14.2 makes it quicker than an Esprit Turbo or a Jalpa and they were more money, so would probably be expected to be faster than a 'jumped up Volkswagen Beetle'. All this and mine still returns between 25 and 28 to the gallon, never much less than 20 when pushed. I don't know anything road legal & normally-aspirated (with four wheels) that revs quicker. Roof down, with all the smells and sounds from the car and it's environment coming straight for the senses; wow, what a place to be. Winter withdrawal symptoms currently at their strongest!

These cars are honestly awesome, you will love owning one [;)]

John

I could not agree more with your sentiments above! I am the bloke Ian Comerford was talking about re a 'tidy targa' for 11.5K. It is a phenomenal car for the money and still makes my spine tingle when I start her up...........mmmmmmmm..............I'm off to put another layer of polish on now............

On a more pertinent point for Bronco, I went out with the intention of getting a white/polar blue coupe (my only stipulation was not red, or a targa!?). After viewing quite a few cars I came across this and the condition/history/quality of the previous owner swung it for me to go for what I originally did not want. I have no regrets and actually love the idea of a targa with wind in the hair and the sound of that sweet flat 6 in the back.

Happy hunting...........

Wait 'til the sun comes out Paul, then you will see that car really come into it's own [8D]

Excellent!

Happy New Year John and to everyone else in The SC Register and P.C.G.B. generally.
You took the words right out out of my mouth even after more than twenty years ownership it still l feels a special car to drive. Loved the Running Report John wish more people would contribute.
