Black Window Edging

Hi I've got a 944S and the black edging around the window is looking tatty. Can anyone suggest a product to repair it. What do you guys do with yours? Niki

Do you mean the plastic trim on the outside or the black paint around the edge of the glass on the inside? If its the latter I scraped all mine off with a tesco's clubcard and just left it as it doesn't really look any different.

Hi Niki, and welcome.

Which window? I need to deal with the rubber on the door windows, and the metal trim on the rear quarterlights. Also the tailgate paint is coming off and the frame separating....

At least my windscreen trim is ok for now! [&:]

ORIGINAL: CarreraRSR

Black metal window trims just need removing, prepping and painting with satin black.

But that metal trim in the rear quarter rubbers? How do you get it out, then back in when it's painted?

If the experts would do video guides of these sort of jobs it would be great! [:)]

Hi Paul,

Yes, what other Steve said. I just did this, and it's not possible to refit the metal trim into the rubber with the window in. Fit the metal into the rubber while its out of the car, then refit the window complete with rubber seal and pre-fitted trim. BTW a new trim piece is about £30 + VAT after Club discount from Porsche, so try not to bend it!

Think it can be done with the window in situ, on the S2 the trim wasn't in properly and I just took it out and refitted using a well worn screwdriver and washing up liquid.
