R3 Friends, Jacquie and I are planning a run out to see the Blackpool illuminations. Odd one this as its like the Abu Dhabi GP (start in the light and finish in the dark)... anyway planning to run across on Saturday 13 October arriving in Blackpool for 7pm (its 2hrs 30mins from Durham approximately and the lights are switched on at 6.45 on 13/10). We plan to see the lights (maybe use the tram), and have dinner in Blackpool (for 8-8:30 - pizza/fish and chips/traditional roast) before returning home (I suspect getting home late around 12pm).

I know this is an odd one but anyone wishing to join us for the run over/dinner, let me know (and your dinner preference) and I'll confirm with you at September's club night to book restaurant early September to avoid disappointment.

Due to night driving route will be a boring - A66/Kirby Stephen/M6/M55.

Thanks - Philip

Great trip. Will be in Norway for that one Philip but my thought of mind.Any reason for drive. You've set the barrier high. 👍

I must say what a cracking idea and something completely different..... However I will have to give this one a miss as funnily enough we play Blackpool at home that day.

Sorry mate

Last time I was in Blackpool was to see the cast of "dads army" turn the lights on ( circa 1974 ? )

Mr Phillip

This sounds like a fantastic plan. Totally up for it.

My vote goes to fish and chips purely as we'd be at the seaside...... but as an official fat man I'm happy to go with the majority whatever the food preference.

Finding ice cream at that time of night is the only obstacle I can foresee.

Last time I went to Blackpool I ended up on Penicillin for 2 weeks with a "itchy rash" ....... (kidding) ...... it was 3 weeks.

Sorry can't make it as other plans were made earlier

Last time I was in Blackpool Mike and Bernie Winters were topping the Bill at the Tower !

Think I'd like to be in the mix, esp as your passing the door (A66) , oh - and Fish n Chips, got to be.

Dave
