Blaupunkt Toronto

Looks like my original Blaupunkt Toronto is on it's way out, giving enormous amounts of interference through the speakers after it has warmed up. Now I am in two minds about this. Do I search for a specialist who can perhaps get the unit back to proper health or do I replace it with something up to date? I have always wanted to keep the car as original as possible.
On research I find that modern DAB units need a new ariel, sorry no-one is drilling holes in my bodywork!
So if anyone knows of a good In-car audio specialist in the West Midalnds who actually knows what they are doing can they let me know. Also anyone who may be able to service the old Blaupunkt would be useful.
Thanks.

Can't help with getting your Toronto repaired but I have had good reception in other cars with a Blaupunkt internal glass mount DAB aerial. There are also external glass mount aerials available.

Hi abz2, I don't know what your budget is but you could look at the current 'classic' offering from Porsche. It's not cheap but includes navigation capability...

Like me, you appreciate originality so I assume you are hanging on to your failing original Blaupunkt Toronto. Good idea, as when you eventually sell the car the new owner will appreciate it being handed on, even if it isn't working! For those owners that have disposed of their original years ago, and want to return the interior to standard, are now finding it expensive buying even a faulty Blaupunkt Toronto.
I hope you find what you need, a good repair or, a sympathetic replacement.

Funny enough as you posted that I was looking at that particular unit, but quite a price.
I have also been looking at new Blaupunkt units which do tend to have a more restrained look to them than the Sony, Kenwood etc units.
I suppose I should move to the modern age as most of my music is digital or Spotify.
But you are right I will keep the original and if I can find someone who can service it and repair it then I will.
I can't see me selling the car now after 23 years, it will get passed down to my son, but even he is having a bit of a moan about replacing the original unit with a modern one.
Thanks.

Torontos are increasingly unreliable and expensive to repair. There are new 'retro-look' options, but I've always thought the Becker Grand Prix (Porsche CDR-21) looks best in the aircooled cars. But, unfortunately, not cheap nowadays.

When I bought my Supersport just over 8 yrs ago the previous owner gave me the original radio and amp and its been sitting in my garage ever since in a plastic bag still looks new , was going to fit it back in but never got round to it , I guess it would have been coded but not sure about that , also not sure if the wires are under the seat for the amp
