Bleedin` clutch

Hilux

New member
My clutch (flexible) pipe is weeping where it changes from a steel pipe from the reservoir and turns into a flexible pipe (why is there a change in pipe material??)

Can I make up a pipe or do I have to use an OEM part?

How do y`all bleed the clutch?

Thanks in advance.

Paul,
Your local PIRTEK or HOSE DOCTOR will be able to make up a nice braided replacement for less than the OEM or pattern pipe.

Thanks Graeme

Is the clutch bleed nipple on the slave cylinder?

Can you `crack` the flex hose joints and bleed on the top of the engine or is it a painful exercise requiring access under the car?

Bleeding the clutch is a tricky excersise by all accounts as it's possible for air to get trapped in the master cyliner which is difficult to purge. I seem to remember that there are several different techniques described in the Clarkes Garage manual.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Just read it.

You have to remove the starter to bleed the clutch????????[&:]

`kin `ell, methinks I cant be arsed and I`ll book it in somewhere but not until I`ve tried bleeding it by cracking the flex to metal pipe joint at its highest point. [;)] It shouldnt get air running down the pipe to the slave cylinder as that should stay full particularly if you reconnect the flex and fill the master cylinder end. Any air then `should` be driven up to the highest point and exited via that union.

Ho hum......................
