bleeding brakes

Folks, Do you need to open both bleed nipples on the caliper at the same time? Never bled a car with 2 nipples per caliper before, and dont really want to waste fluid at 45 quid a litre. Thanks Hugh
 
No! Start with the outer bleeder on the calliper with the longest line first, then the inner and repeat this all round the car finishing with the inner bleeder on the shortest line. Use a clear plastic bleed tube so you can see when all the air is expelled. You may need to re-bleed using the same routine, to get a full pedal. [;)] Hope this helps. Regards, Clive PS. Pressurising the system using something like the Gunson Eezibleed kit can help.
 
Thanks! Does the clutch come off the same master cylinder, do you need to take any out of it? Also I assume that the servo doesnt have a bleed valve? I cant really see easily on mine, as the 92 L tank seems to cover most of that area!
 
Hugh, if you're doing the entire system (brakes and clutch use the same reservoir), there's a bleed valve on the clutch slave but you need long, bendy arms and have to be good at working in the dark to get to it [:D] p.s. Do not let fluid drop below more than a mm or two above the MIN mark of the reservoir when doing the bleeding. I know this sounds obvious but it can lead to lots of re-bleeding and wasted new fluid if you do. And don't forget to clamp off the overflow hose on the reservoir.
 
Strongly recommend bleeding the clutch slave while you are at it , this tends to be totally neglected during normal servicing/maintenance because it is well hidden away and can be responsible for clutch pedal not returning when gearbox gets hot [8|]

Thanks guys! Laurence PM sent. Steve - thanks for tip on overflow pipe. Sounds like its going to be hassle. Plan to fit new rear disks and pads on monday (now that fronts are done) then will bleed full system.
