Blinded by my Bi Xenon's

The bi xenon headlights on my 997 C2 are very bright and I am forever being flashed by oncoming cars who think I have my full beam on (even when they are in line with me but still some distance away when I dip them so they should be able to see that I have done it!!)

The other night I was driving home and suddenly caught in a snow flurry. It was by no means what I have experienced in the Highlands in our other cars but fairly heavy. However for a time I was totally blind as the light from my headlights was reflecting off the falling snow and preventing me from seeing anything through the falling snow. Is this normal or might the pitch of my headlights be set too high? I can not see where I can manually adjust this as I can in my other cars.

I had my headlights re-aligned due to a similar issue of blinding myself in fog and snow.
OPC did it for no cost.. its done via the holes behind the lining of the boot..

People do flash you anyhow with the HID lamps...[&:]

agreed best to get alignment checked

however it may be fine and a case of people flashing who dont have xenons and dont know that the brightness is normal for the dipped beam(but much brighter than they are used to)
i used to get flashed a fair bit in the cayman and also in the 993 since i had xenons on dipped retrofitted, and I know the alignment was ok on both.-flashing back with full beam xenons in the cayman usually did the trick[:D]

The difficulty of reflection from falling snow (and dense fog) is something that I have experienced with other HID setups other than Porsche. I have put it down to the fact that the light output is very white compared to other types.

Sounds like alignment to me. Doesn't happen so much to me now but I do remember when I once had an E46, I got flashed all the time. Alignment checks were always ok..... I just put it down to the fact nobody liked M3 drivers and I returned full beam in return [:)]

I had a similar problem with my C2S but the nice guys at PCT in Coventry set them a bit lower for me. Seems to have cured the problem. They told me that sometimes the sensors on the suspension fail stopping them self adjust and causing them to be too high.

Doesn't that make the vehicle unroadworthy? I thought Xenons could only be fitted with auto leveling installed?

could or should [;)]
You are correct Richard, however not until anyone spots it on MOT time!!
Aftermarket bypasses it though..[&:]
