Bling up that engine bay

Whilst the Turbo was away last week I asked SimonP of SPS Engines if he could finish off replating some of the golden brackets around the engine bay. He had done a fair few as part of the engine rebuild but it only served to highlight some of the mankiest one's that he'd missed. If you have a few done it works out to around a tenner each and he's planning to keep them in stock so he can post out on an exchange basis, so email him if you'd like a shinier engine bay too [8D]

My close-up photography is not a patch on John Sims with his fancy light box and stuff but I think you'll agree they set off the bay a treat [:)]

Not gold, it's zinc-yellow passivate.

And if you are paying £10 each to have them done, you are being fleeced. My local plater did all of the brackets in a friend's 928 for a fiver.

Oli.

ETA: My original post came over as a bit brusque ... it wasn't meant to be, but that price sounds a little pricey compared to other prices I've known for this sort of thing. UNLESS they really are gold-plated, in which case this sounds like a billy bargain ...

Aaww shucks! [&o] Looks good to me Mr Smith.

Bit of slack on the throttle cable there though perhaps?

BTW Mr Smith; was this the same re pasivating that "someone" might have said get done while the engine was being built? [;)]

Oh, and even though you tried to hide it I can still see Nanky Bolt [:D]

Paul, it looks fine. I think most of our cars could do with a bit of TLC below the bonnet.
I am in the process of doing something similar with my S2.
My cam cover is just back from powder coating - £32 with the bolts being replated for £5 for the set.
Replating does not appear to be very expensive, but like anything I am sure that there is different qualities of finish available.

Yes and yes so just shuttit Mr Eagle Eyes []. It took me about four photos until I was positive the nanky bolt was lined up with the tube behind it so as to disguise it [8|]

How wrong I was [:D]

You'll have to put a pic up when it's done.
Would be nice to see my old S2 blinged up; I was intending to do the same, and get some nice blue plug leads, hoses etc so it all matched.
