Blow me...

I'm trying to work out how good/bad the blowers in my car are. Basically they work (in as much as they demist the windscreen) but only when I'm moving at about 30 or above. Is this correct or should you get a bit of blow even when you're stationary?

they work when the engine is off and the key is removed yes. As do the wipers have a go..

Fraser,

Mark and I both have electric cold air blowers which came with 69 models and are quite a big improvement over older models, as you get a blast of air blowing in when stationary. Pity it mainly blows in cold rather than hot though... At Idle speed the engine fan should still blow some hot air up to the windscreen, but this can be pretty feeble by the time most warmth has leaked out at every joint in the ducting! I've replaced quite a few bits of pipe which has helped a lot.

My hot air system seems better on the drivers side than the passengers - I think this is to do with the adjustment of the cable onto the heat exchanger on the left. Basically the left heat exchanger valve is not opening fully I think.

Cheers chaps,
Looks like I might have to dig around and see if I can improve the feeble draft that comes through at the moment.
