Blue smoke on start up

Something tells me this question may have been asked in the past but ...

Started up the old girl today ('02 C4S) and lots of blue smoke came out the back then went away quite quickly. Have heard this this is common due to the flat six thing but just wondered if it had happened to anyone else and if there was anything I needed to be worried about!? Would ask my OPC but planning on getting the warranty soon so thought Id check here first.

Thanks in advance folks

Started up the old girl today.......

Sounds like you haven't started it up for a while, and that's usually when it happens. As long as it cleared within a few seconds there is nothing to worry about.

Hi Stuart

Diito Richard. My C2 may sit for a week in the garage and emits a small puff of smoke when started for the first time. Has never been a problem in 2 years of ownership, and she doesn't seem to drink any oil either.

Hi, it is the flat 6 thing as you say, (coupled to running on 0/40 mobil oil). My tt does it occasionally (most usually when there is a crowd of admirers around it rather than when on its own!!) Most embarrassing.

Back in the old air-cooled days it could be quite embarrassing as the whole neighbourhood became enveloped in a blue haze, but I guess tolerances are not so slack nowadays.
Spoils all the fun really!! :ROFLMAO:

Clive

Is it smoke from the motor or from the tyres?

In my case things improved greatly when I went to 4 wheel drive! [:D]
Incidentially, is that you in that 105E? :p

Clive
