blue smoke.....

Have noticed big puff of blue smoke when starting her up - no smoke there after even on full throttle. Oil consumption seems ok. Is this normal? shes a 96 993 turbo. regards, Andrew

It' s a well known condition - " they all do that guv" !
However, it should only do it on start up after it has been left standing for a considerable period of time, at least overnight - if it' s happening more frequently you may have another problem which ought to be checked.
There was a difficulty on the 993 regarding topping up the oil believe it or not, and overfilling will cause this problem on a regular basis. If in doubt, check your Drivers Handbook, and if still in doubt, get it checked at your nearest OPC or independent specialist.

As John say' s I have read about this happening on 993TT' s , & the OPC' s standard reply " they can all do that sir" !! Funnily enough my 996TT has started to do the same thing but only now & again, as I look in the rear view mirror to come out the garage...a big plume of white oil smoke...NICE!!!!!. try searching www.Rennlist.com
(993TT forum) for more info on the subject.
My car is going in for some warranty work next week & I have added this to the check list, so will let you know their official line to me !!

Thanks chaps - started her up 3 times today - smoke only came out first thing in the morning - so seems ok.
