Help needed on a few areas:
- Is there a bluetooth handsfree kit that plumbs into the speaker system with the features of incoming number/names, number scroll, number dial, voice command, auto volume cutoff, etc?
- Can I get an iPOD connection?
- Can I get retro fit of cruise control?

Car is late 2003 (53 plate) C2 conv. No PSM, PCM or sat nav. Single CD woth Bose speakers.

Others can advise you better about iPod and phone integration with the CDR23.

Yes - cruise control can be retrofitted. If you want to DIY take a look at the 986 DIY section on www.renntech.org, or if you want it fitted by someone else try www.wrightune.co.uk.

(Tony Wright and I have been best of friends for more years than we care to remember).

I have a Parrot 3200 that was purchased from Halfords.... yep, Halfords!

I did shop around first for a deal but these guys knew what they were doing and the cheapest. The 996 (mine has PCM1) DOESNT require any additional leads as they may suggest.

My Dad and sis have the two previous models and all work very well.

Its integrated to the speakers, so mutes the radio/cd volume when a call is received or made.

Its also synchronises with your phonebook - I use a Sony Ericsson P series and that works fine.

You can even have a picture come up on the screen of the caller.

Hope this helps.

Richard and Rob - Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how I get on with DIY! Hopefully my son will help with the electronics.

I'm sure porsche don't do an iPod kit for a 996 but you can get after market kits that work well from most in car audio places. Cruise is an easy retrofit and the parrot systems work very well with most modern day phones.

Just take care if you have the upgraded Amp, the parrot system works through the standard ISO speaker connector. You don't have this if you have the Amp. I'm getting an auto electrician to do mine next week.

not sure if this helps or hinders, but I have a parrot kit in my work car and its about as much use as a chocolate teapot. You can barely hear the person on the call if you're going at any sort of speed or are on anything other than perfect tar mac(due to road noise). The parrot has its own amp which, even on top volume, just doesn't have enough 'umph...' For that reason I am not sticking one in my 996, I am going to see whether I can get a professional kit specific for my phone or look at changing the head unit at some point.

Okeycokey, i'd check your volume settings or how the fitter as installed. If it's gone through the car speakers it should be very loud. I've had a few and my business partner has one and sometimes it's too loud! The only time i've found them to be useless ref volume is when an extra speaker as been used, then they are as much use as a chocolate teapot.

the parrot i had fitted at opc before delivery of my cayman s although expensive(£350 if i recall)has been faultless and very easy to use.

Hi chris, its been plumbed through the car speakers but is really hopeless. i took i back to road radio and everything is on highest settings - they said the parrot amp was the issue and the only option would be to put an amp to boost the output... i have a LS3200 color, it was the only one my local road radio sold. chris/dylan, which versions have you got?

I've got the 3100 black addition, cost £65 + £65 to have it fitted by a local auto guy who does work for my local OPC. He hard wired it in to the amp. great job and works a treat, all for £130 not bad.
