BMW 325i

With a sprog on the way in May, I'm thinking about changing my much loved 987 Boxster[:(] for a new BMW 325i coupe[8|]. Would love a 997 but can't afford one yet. Should I go for a 996 instead? Opinions?

I am with Mark - use the Merc, keep the Boxster

Alternatively you could sell the kids, you might be able to afford the 997 then

Yeah, I know what you all mean. Just didn't want to spend my life in the Merc on weekends staring at the Boxster in the garage!

Hey JP, just remember children grow up and leave home - the car will always be there if you want it to be... its a lesson learnt too late when they've gone, and yet one that is not easy to action.

And besides think of all those bonding opportunities, with your child strapped into a car seat and Mum at home taking a break - in fact I can see an opportunity for meeting a number of needs here:

  1. Getting out with child (my teenagerish kids still think its pretty cooool to arrive and be collected in the Porsche - especially with the roof down and if I stay in it[&o])
  2. Earning some favour with your partner/wife whilst she takes a break
  3. Keeping the Boxster makes sense, since it facilitates this

Can I add one

The family car (Mer in your case) is then her car, as I hae found this buys a lot of goody points. Of course this emans you may ahve to drive the boxster a bit more often than you used to, to allow her free range with the Merc.

I call that a win win [:D][:D][:D]
