Body shop recommendations ?

Richard Moore

New member
Any suggestions for a bodyshop to do my rust work within reasonable range of Watford ? I have a quote from Langley Autocraft and was promised but have not recieved a quote from 911 bodyshop in Wembley so any other tips very welcome.

Richard, have you tried talking to Tuthills?

If you ended up bringing it there, I could drop you back to Northampton or MK station where you can train it home to Watford or wherever. To have it done by one of the best specialists in the country won't cost you as much as you might think IMO (thought I stand to be corrected [8D]).

A 3.2-owning friend of mine has his car in with them for some bodywork at the minute, am heading down to collect it with him on Thursday, will let you know what the finished article looks like.

What rust work are you having done?

I have some rust on the front wings near the headlights and most people are recommending getting new wings as opposed to welding in new bits of metal. Mega wedge though!

John kindly took me to collect the car from Tuthills this afternoon.

I cannot recommend them highly enough in terms of their professionalism and attitude to you as a customer.

I am very pleased with the work done to repair the B-Post and sill rust. They also replaced the windscreen (under my insurance) and rust cleaned and painted the scuttle at a very reasonable price.

Labour rates are much lower I am sure than London / Watford - say £40-45/hour

Nothing nicer than a fixed kidney bowl and door shut. I should know - I've had both done :) I'll post the pics of my repaired innner wings later today.

Hi Richard,

I am currently having my 1977 sc done by a 911 restorer not far from Oxford (between Oxford and Swindon). He came recommended to me, and based on the other work I have seen from him, and what he has done so far on my car, I would strongly recommend him - and he is not to expensive. I will be collecting my car at the end of next week, and post some pic's for you. I am located in Rickmansworth, so you are more than welcome to come over after I have collected the car, and have a close look at his work.

Kroggers

I would like to take you up on your offer of having a look at the work done to your car. I live in Aylesbury and have an 1982 SC Coupe, looking to get a couple of bits done, would appreciate a chat and look.

Please contact me direct if you wish:

Kind Regards

Roy.

HI Kroggers
I am based in Watford and would be very interested in seeing the work when completed as I have a couple of issues that need attending to.
Kevin.

Roy, Kevin, Richard , and anyone else interested!!

I am thinking I might have a nice win-win situation here [;)]

A bit of history - Whilst my car is in Rickmansworth (with my family), I on the other hand am not! I now currently live and work in Sweden. I plan to export my pride and joy over to Sweden during the summer (a good excuse for a summer holiday drive through Europe!) My original plans at the beginning of the year, was to do some minor improvements and fixes before the drive, which has - as you can expect - ended up a bigger job that originally expected. This has unfortunately left me with a very tight schedule (ie. the dates that I am currently scheduled to be in the UK), to get my car back together again before my holiday.

So, in the fellowship of the PCGB, I was hoping to be able to call on your assistance to put her back together after I collect her from the body shop? I am currently scheduled to fly in to London next Friday and collect the car in the evening, and will be in Rickmansworth desperately trying to get her back together (new carpet, seats stereo etc....) on Saturday.

You are more than welcome to come over on Saturday to see the workmanship and admire the work done by the body shop, and in exchange for some beers (an maybe pizza), I would be grateful if you would dedicate some of your time in assisting me in getting her done?!?

Please feel free to email me direct pal.krogdahl@se.ibm.com
