bodyshop to replace my sills

I'm sure some of you have had to replace the sills, can anyone recommend a bodyshop near Bedfordshire to do this? as yet I don't know how bad the damage is (I haven't plucked up the courage to get out the wire brush yet!) but I am keen to use someone who has done this work before and who will have an excellent finish (I'm a bit of a perfectionist, something that doesn't go too well with a 20 year old car)

I've already spoken to RPM in Cheddington and Auto2000 to gain their recommendations but was keen to hear from a club member who has done this.

Speak to Simon at http://www.sarclassics.com/ who has done some excellent work on a few members cars

Also try Dave at http://www.daytonacoachworx.co.uk/ who has a lot of front engined bodywork experience

You may have to wait a while as the last time I spoke to them they were booked up for almost 6months but if you are a perfectionist and like me you find it hard to know who to trust then its worth the wait. 'Revival' in Northampton who were formally TVR Powers bodyshop before TVR went bust and they had to diverse have done two cars for me now nd both times have exceeded my expectations.

Phone Gary who is the owner Tel - 07773373038 he's not 'cheap' and you could pay a lot less but he is reasonable and you could pay a LOT more for the same quality of work somewhere else.

Here are some pics of his work on my 944:

This picture is after the whole setion was cut out and replaced by new metal which he panel beat in to match the original. The only indication that he had done this afterwards was the visible weld inside line inside the arch before he rust protected and waxoiled over it.

Was that a full respray they did there Ben?

Yes. Plus fitting the fibreglass front wings, badge panel and rust removal/internal protection works which took a lot longer than the respray!

Ben, out of interest, what was the cost of the respray? i want to get mine as near as concourse (with it still being useable) as i can in my ownership.
cheers, Al.

Looks lovely Ben, would love to see it in the metal, fibreglass wings must make it that little bit quicker !

I would allow £5k or £4k without the fibreglass bits. His service wasn't fault free as the car developed an electrical fault whilst with him and I feel he dumped it on my a bit when he couldn't solve the problem but the quality of his work was first rate and he went beyond the call of duty adding little touches like alluminium strips on the bonnet shuts, around the exhaust to protect the paint from heat and rubber strips between the wings and the front bumper to stop the paint rubbing if the fibreglass moved. None of which he charged for, he just felt - in his own words 'it wouldn't have been a proper job without it'.

TWG in Peterborough repaired both of my sills for £600, I was very pleased with the result, they are the best bit of bodywork on my car....

Thanks for this guys, I'll spend the next couple of weeks driving around to get quotes etc but it's excellent to have some recommendations. The photos look great, I thought mine was in good nick but I'm quite envious of the finish you have achieved. I guess it gives me something to aim for over the next couple of years!
