Bodyshop work on S2 Update

As most of you know my car is curently at the bodyshop having the rusty front wings repaired and a front end respray, Dave has been taking some pictures so I thought I would post some for those who may be considering this kind of work in the future.

Neil Haughey supplied a red bonnet to replace mine (it was more economical to replace then repair my exsisting holed bonnet)

New lenses were ordered but after removal whole new driving light units were needed as the old ones were rusted and had to be cut out, at £200 each they are not cheap! Bert at Berlyn Services was the cheapest.

The front badge panel and bumper have been taken down to bare metal/plastic as there was a fair amount of paint build-up there. It shoud also provide a much better paint finish when re-painted.

Apparently the bumper was very tedious to remove all paint, I didn't know they were black?

Bumper primed up and looking very smooth...

There are no pictures of the wing repairs as these are being done now, hopefully I can post some once Dave has sent more pictures.

I'm also planning on having Paintshield fitted to the front bumper, badge panel and wing mirrors only. Its not cheap but worth the investment, I really hate stone chips...

Looking forward to seeing it all finished!

Looking good Edd, nice to see some quality prep going on. More work at this point, but it'll be evident in the finish you get. Look forward to the metalwork pics.......... Mike

Dave at Daytona has a very good reputation so you should be in good hands. Keep us updated with pictures as it's a road that most longterm owners will have to go through at some point

Yes I'm very happy Dave and Gordon at Daytona Coachworks are doing the work, their attention to detail is second to none. Edd

You'll have a cracking looking car when it's done Edd. From what can be seen of the bottoms of the wings in your first picture (i.e. just about nothing!) they don't look too bad at all. Oli.

Looks can be decieving! TBH they arnt the worst rusted wings you'll ever see but the Stoneguard does hide most of the rusted area, plus filler that had been added during its last respray it was starting to look quite tatty, hopefully some wing pictures will show the extent soon. Edd

[blockquote]quote: ORIGINAL: AntB Can I ask if you dont mind what sort of cost you are paying for the bodywork? [/blockquote] Email sent
Sorry Edd, can I ask the same question?

Sorry for being nosey but I'm also looking to do the same on my turbo although the front wings and bonnet don't need replacing. Heard many good things about Daytoner. Could I be cheeky and ask also ask what you're paying. With thanks Gary

To be honest Dave is very reasonable for the quality of work he does, obviously all cars differ and you should call him to discuss what you need and I'm sure he could give you a rough idea on price, etc. Dave is on 01438 367957.

An Update: Dave has sent me more pictures of the work done to my car so far. The wing doesnt look too bad here but bear in mind most of the lower part of the inner wings that holds the trim fixings has rotten away and new ones have had to be fabricated (the trim was falling off on one side and badly fitted on the other).

Hopefully should be finished sometime next week, Andrew Churcher tells me he went to the bodyshop last week to discuss some work on his car, he says he saw my car there and work was coming on. He's probably seen more of my car recently than I have.... Edd
