Bodyshop

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the Berkshire area? My 2003 Boxster was hit by someone when it was parked, and it now has scratches and a dent on the drivers door and wing...

The insurance company has said I will lose my no claims if I claim, so I'm going to have to pay for it myself :-(

Pete

Cheers I'll give both of them a call.... Any ideas what kind of money I'm going to have to shell out?

Unfortunately it will probably be in the order of £1k :0( they will probably need to blend panels (for the best result)

Blimey as much as that... it's red so not metalic (guards red), I hope it's a bit cheaper than that.....

Well bodytechnics have quoted me £1792+VAT !!!! because of where the dent is they can't fix the dents, they have to replace the door and the wing :-( Waiting for a confirmation quote from specialised paintwork, but they said nearer to £1400... Still a hell of a lot of money!

Looks like an insurance claim to me ..must be cheaper in the long run even loosing NCB I have a protected policy which allows up to two no fault claims and from what I can remember was not all that much from the standard policy.Good luck shop around not all official repairers are the best.

Yep probably going to go with insurance claim, howver my excess is £700 so I am going to have to cough that up, and lose 20% of my no claims, just because another idiot can't driver properly, and doesn't have the decency to leave a note.

No, it was in a residential street, as the company I was working for at the time, have limited car parking space.

Wow £700 is eye watering.....I pay £245 fully protected for a 987 06 year car , in fact the excess is £250 and is dearer than the policy. mind you I am and oldie so age does have its ++[:D] And before anyone asks Yes it is with Saga

If you're paying yourself have you thought about a good, small, local bodyshop?

OK, you won't get a courteousy car, and there won't be a pretty receptionist hiding behind a pot plant offering you 17 sorts of frothy coffee. On the other hand you'll be more likely to get a bloke whos been doing this since paint was invented and could arguably do a better job for a lot less. Guards Red is a tricky colour to match after 5 years.

Worth considering, and some will even be non-Vat. Do be prepared to be viewed as rich pickings wherever you go though, even my car, worth only a few £000s, seems to bump the quotes up just by being a red Porsche! []

Well i've decided to let the insurance company pay.... I got a quote from a small independent paintshop and they quoted just over £700+VAT so that would be more than my excess so going the 'expensive route'
