Bodywork quandry...

Hello people.

My recently acquired 1981 Targa is a great low mileage example with one or two minor bodywork flaws in the usual places. I only drive her in good weather and she's adequately sheltered or covered (thanks mainly to the advice from the Forum!).

Is best practive to stay on top of these niggles by sorting them at first opportunity? Or am I being melodaramatic?

To my knowledge the car has not had any work done (this statement fro the guy I bought it from arouses my suspicion though) and I'm a little worried I'm being a bit gung-ho!

Your help as always is most appreciated.

Hiya

We have an 82 911sc coupe, and recently went through a similar dilema. It really boils down to what your long term plans for the car are. If you are just planning on keeping it a couple of years and then selling up then I wouldn't bother. If like us you plan to keep it for many years then it is probabaly worth doing at some time when your finances suit. A word of warning though once you start scratching under the surface you may not like what you find and you may end up with a big bill. We did!

We have just had our fully stripped down, loads of repair panels and welding (the sills and door pillars were rather coroded) and a full respray, this of course doesn't come cheap @£10K but we now know the condition of the car and expect it to last for many a year to come, plus it looks fab.
