Bodywork Restoration/Repair?

Gents,

Having bought my '84 3.2 Carrera last year I have sorted out some of the mechanical gremlins and am now looking at some body repairs. I'm looking for recommendations of reliable repairers in the Central Region (I'm based in Paisley) to repair the inner wings of the car. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ivor , in response to your post I'd really recommend A & E Coachworks in Bellshill . They have done first class work on my C4S and they also did the 356 speedster that won the club concours at Scone Palace last year . They are also heavily involved with many other classic car clubs . In addition to their daily work I know they have three 911s in at present . I have no financial involvement with the company other than I'm a customer and spend £3-5 k per month with them repairing my company commercial vehicles . Ask for John - the owner - 01698 841197 tell him I gave you his number cheers Barry Clarkson

Used this place for both Porsche and Ferrari in the past:

good job and prices...

I would strongly recommend the bodyshop at Buchan Automotive in Rutherglen. Euan Buchan is a great enthusiast and has done many really fine jobs for me and friends and family. The paintshop is attached to his towbar fitting center.0141 647 5399, let Euan know that David Cunningham recommended him.

Hi Barry

I have a 944 needing inner and outer sills done (in no hurry, he could take as long s he likes) would he tackle this type of work and would it be Ok to contact John and mention the PCGB.

Gents,

Many thanks for the assistance. I have contacted the very helpful Euan Buchan but unfortunately he now concentrates his efforts on mainstream repairs. John at A&E has responded positively and himself owns a 3.2 Carrera, I'm taking mine their on Saturday for an assessment.

Thanks once again.

Hi Colin

thanks for the reply, I said inner and outer sills but in fact the outers are OK they were done by motortune in Shotts a few years ago, but the car has been laid up for two years and when I was looking it over (pre MOT) I found rust at the inside, I live near Kinross but the car has no MOT, my idea was to trailer it to whoever can fix it, as I said before I am in no hurry, so whoever repairs it can do it at there leisure.

Ivor, Alasdair is hosting a 944 Meet at his Garage on 2nd October, he is in Bonnybridge. See 944 section of Forum for details. Come along you will be most welcome and there will be plenty 944 chat, advice and general banter.
Also check out old posts on 944 Section regarding Sills.

Cheers Alan.

Hi Alan

I take it as read, all are welcome at Alasdair's 944 meet, as I have more time on my hands I would like to get out and about with the old 944 once fixed.

Regards

Dave S

Yes Dave all are welcome at Alasdairs, he usually has a few Live projects that you can look over. Have you found someone to sort your sills yet? I repaired mine last Winter, and to get to inner sill can involve cutting open outer sill unfortunately.
You don't have to come in a 944, it is for people with a shared interest in the Cars.

See you there, Alan.
