Boge Shocks

Hi

I ordered myself some new rear shocks and had been expecting to receive standard Koni's. Just got the delivery and got two surprises, firstly they are Boge shocks rather than Koni, and secondly one is Black and one is yellow!

Two questions -
- anyone got views on Boge shocks (are they worth keeping) (just checked and the description on the website wasn't specific - I foolishly made an assumption without realising)
- any idea if yellow vs black makes any difference on these (despite looking strange with two different colours). The model number stamped on the side is the same.

Cheers
Greg

I remember fitting Boge to the rear of my old 924lux.They did make a difference though as the originals were knackered and still on after about 86k.If i remember right, one was yellow and the other blue.

I replaced all four shocks last year. The fronts were Sachs, the rears Boge (Sachs-Boge are the same company).

Koni are (I would say) seen as a superior brand, but were only standard if your car came with M030 or M474 options.

Almost forgot - Both my rear shocks are black. Are the part numbers the same? (regardless I think I'd send one back as the'll look stupid)

Yeah same part number (although there is an additional number at the very bottom that is different (completely separate to the part number).

I will definitely send at least one back. Might just return both and grab some koni adjustables.

Anyone tried the Spax PSX Sports kit? Lowers the car by 30mm with suitably matched dampers - i know it's cheap & cheerful and you get what you pay for etc. Would i have clearance problems with factory option Fuchs 16" wheels?

Like Mik said, Boge were standard on the S2, Konis only as M030 or M474 option.

What were the ones you took off? That would help you work out what to replace with.

Cheers. The old ones were koni adjustables, but they were a previous owner addition. Had been intending to go back to standard (as the road here in Ireland are very poor and I only track it about once per year, so a bit softer rather than firmer is probably better) but for some reason I had been under the impression that standard was koni non-adjustable, rather than boge.

That makes me more happy to stick with the boge's, as long as the supplier matches them up correctly (they are looking into it at the moment and getting back to me).

Not 100% sure, but I believe M474 was the non-adjustable Koni option.

S2 and Turbo use the same boge rear dampers in std trim.

It only fits the pre 86 cars and have not heard of anyone trying it, had them on my mini and they were fine and could be made distinctly uncomfortable on the road using the higher settings.

Isn't that how Minis left the factory?
