Hi All

It has certainly been a long time since ive been on here...I hope you are all well and sorry for being so slack this year with getting online. I havent actually signed on here since last December...Shameful!!

Well, I guess this post is to ask for any advice that anyone would give for someone considering touring Europe from the seat of their Porsche. I am leaving on the 15th May with a few quid in my back pocket and a tent under to bonnet. I am planning to catch a ferry over to Caen, France and gradually travel down to Le Manns, heading through the centre of France (stopping at a few Vineyards along the way [;)]) and arriving in Nice for the 22nd May. I am spending a week in Nice whilst I catch the Monaco Grand Prix and then on the 29th May I am going to start the second leg of my journey which will end in or around Andalucia, Spain.

I dont know how long im planning to go away for as it will be when either a) I get bored or b) I run out of cash which either of these will dictate the rough date of my return...

My questions to you Guys I guess is as follows...
a) Does anyone have any really good advice to give?! [8|]
b) Have any of you done a simular trip?! AM I COMPLETELY INSANE?! [:(]
c) If anyone is planning to be in France/Spain and you see me...PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE come and say 'Hi'...I would be extremly grateful to hear a familar accent/see a smiley face! [:D]

Final bits I suppose are...I am travelling alone and will be camping for a majority of my road trip and ofcourse will have a fully charged camera and full tank of petrol!

Also, Jon - I was wondering if you guys wanted to run a story on the road trip to include in our Porsche Post R29 section?! If you do then let me know because i could probably keep a pretty exciting diary whilst im on my travels and could probably send you pictures of my continued journey...

Anyway, thanks for reading my post and only 11 more days to go! The countdown continues...

Take care
Clarey X

Hi,

Your not insane, we did a smiliar thing last year but on a smaller scale, drove 2500 miles form Calais to the Nurgburgring, to Monaco and back up through the Alps. It weas fantastic, we stayed in some great places and all of them booked as and when we needed / came across them. There are plenty of campsites and alot of them are in the most spectacular locations that more than make up for the lack of hotel ammenties.

I would make sure you have European recovery and apart from that, have a great time.

Clare, a write up of this would make great copy for R19's section of Porsche Post. Peoples personal experiences and adventures are much more interesting than a load of dates for our diaries and forthcoming events. Keep a diary of all the tour, but you can leave out the saucy bits. By the way, you missed a great Saturday at the centre in Reading. Keep an eye on the forum for updates of R19 activity. We have regional concours, open days and barbecues all up our sleeve. Have a good trip.

Hi Clarey
You will have an excellent time - if only.....!
Why not set up a section here and post every other day or so and let us have a running report of where you are and what experiences you have had. There may well be some on-line who can offer you advice etc of your next port of call.. That would be fun and stop you getting bored too......[;)] Take a laptop and the up link the stuff at the next wireless hot spot.
Went with friends to Monaco 6 weeks ago which was superb. Enjoy a pint of lager at the Café de Paris on Casino square and watch the world go by with lots of lovely ladies (and cars) to watch !!! But at £9 a pint it can turn out expensive!!
Enjoy
