Bonnet fit?

Guest

New member
My 944S2 bonnet seems to bulge slightly on the LHS middle, so that although it is level with the wings in all the corners and RHS middle, the LHS middle is approx 10mm proud of the wing.

The bonnet does not look creased etc.

My questions are .... do the bonnets normally fit nice? Can bonnets be reshaped slightly by bodyshop?

Cheers for the advise

Paul

I've never noticed one sitting proud by 10mm before [&:] something doesn't sound right.

If it is just the bonnet out of shape then I'm sure a good body shop could put it right.

Your bonnet could be made to fit, but how big the job would be is impossible to say with out looking at it. If it won't " push, pull, twist" back, might need some brute force, filling and respraying the whole bonnet.

I checked both mine last night and I think PJL may have discovered something [:)]

My S2 bonnet is a good 5mm proud of the wing on the drivers side, but flush on the passengers. My Turbo is slightly less on the other side.

Could this be one of the vagaries of 80's production and design, just like the rear wheel arch on the drivers side whish is half an inch wider than the passengers?

Maybe its just our hinges need adjusting?

I have tried adjusting the hinges, but all that does is raise or lower the rear corners .... i have even tried removing the rubber buffers sitting in the wings channel, but no difference.
