Bonnet I.D Help? (987)

Hi guys (and girls),

Is been quite a while since i've visited the forum (formerly Chris996), obviously I had sold the car (2 years ago) but now plan returning back to Porsche ownership.

The previous cars I owned 2 x 986's and 1 x 996 all had a white ID sticker on the underside of the bonnet and a black PORSCHE I.D plate... I've just been to see a local car but noticed neither sticker was on the underside of the bonnet? Is this normal or new on the 987... the car I went to look at was a 2005 model, hpi clear and the slam panel was unmarked?

Any advice or help is most welcome.

Many thanks

Chris

From MY2005 they stopped putting the white VIL under the bonnet. The black VIN sticker is on the driver's door shut of a 986/996, but not sure if it is there on a 987/997.

Thanks for the reply,

Long time no speak... if I remember you had just sold the blue 996

Thanks again,

Chris

Yeah, thanks Robin...

...Just popped back to have a look at the car, just noticed a little light yellow residue under the oil cap and a weee bit under the coolant cap... i think perhaps best left alone.

Something that i never experienced on the previous cars though i've been informed quite common?

Shame, it looked really nice with a complete history and 48,000 miles. Just, some voice inside me telling me no!

If its been on the forecourt , chances are its only been run a few minutes every month the keep the battery topped up. as a result you get condensation in the engine which gives rise to the mayo effect on the inside of the oil filler cap. Would suggest you clean the cap and take it for a long test drive then recheck for the white residue. If its not there , nothing to worry about , but as a precaution get the oil and filter changed if the car has been standing and unused over the winter.

Thanks Berty,

Will do... i'll be probably popping back thurs to have a further look. (Its a pivate sale) Just to confirm, is your Boxster front bonnet completely void of stickers or id plates?

Thanks again

Chris
