Bonnet latch

Hi

my bonnet wont stay latched down, & now it wont even latch down at all [:(], the internal release leaver appears to function ok but pushing the bonnet down does nothing

Before I start to dismantle the front end of my baby, are there any hidden things I need to be aware of before breaking them [:D]

any suggestions or a picture of how the assy should look are welcome as I have an MOT next week & need to get it sorted.

Thanks

I would take the plastic cover (15) off and give the latch a good spray with WD-40 first. The diagram is a bit of a composite one, as it shows the electric release as well as the cable, but you'll get the idea. Also, it's LHD shown. HTH

Mine had exactly the same problem today....after stripping everything down, cleaning etc.. I think the problem was that the two rubber buffers on the bonnet were slightly unscrewed meaning the bonnet wouldn't press down far enough to latch correctly. Screwed these back in tight and it latched into position again..

didnt get a chance[:(] was in London till this afternoon & have just got back tonight Will have to be tomorrow after work

finally made it to the garage to find a broken cable, anyone know how easy & long they take to replace?

But then again on reflection & taking note that the diagram was LHD i found the floating release cable & a stiff release assembly that's now soaking in penetrating oil [:D][:D][:D] hopefully it will all be ok when i've re-assembled it
