BONNET RELEASE WITH NO POWER

Having established that my battery was dead (See previous thread) I have now purchased a new one.

What I over looked when taking the old one to be tested at my local motor factors garage is that I closed the bonnet after removing the dead battery!!

I now have the problem that I cannot open the bonnet to install the new battery as there is no power !!!

Silverstone Porsche confirmed that there is a manual release lever hidden behind the inner wheel arch of the front passenger side wheel.

The problem I have is that I have bigger Turbo alloys and the access to the inner wheel arch is very limited. I cannot turn the wheel to gain more access as the is no power !!

I am unable to remove the wheel and jack the car up as both locking wheen nut & jack are in the bonnet (which is locked!!)

Any suggestions ?!?

I'd ring Porsche Assist and get the RAC to help here. I'm sure there is something in the fuse panel you could pull-out to attach a lead to the battery, but why not get some external help from the Assist team - that's what they're for. The locking wheel nut key may well be under the bonnet, but I don't think there is a jack in there unless you've specifically bought one ?

Look at the cover of the fuse box - it details how to open using a second battery via the fuse box connections

All sorted.

Connected another battery to the fuse box & door and now normal service resumed [:)]

Thanks for the advise.

Will now use the car more. Happy days [:)]

Also consider a trickle charger. See offers for club members on this part of the forum. Our 997 gets reasonable use, with very few short runs; but the charger always seems to find the battery needs a top-up.
