Bonnet sticker

I've been looking at a car I'm thinking about getting and on closer inspection it has not got the C16 sticker under the luggage compartment lid. The car is definately UK supplied and FSH by OPC.

I know there was a thread on the forum about the stickers and when they stopped putting them under the lid but can't find it on search.

Question is then should a 996 Turbo S first registered in December 2004 have a C16 sticker or does its absence suggest the bonnet has been replaced. I've been assured by the car has not been in a front end accident but want to make doubly sure. On inspection the hinges and lifters all look original.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I know they stopped putting bonnet VILs on the 987 and 997, but I thought all 996's had the sticker. It might be that that the sticker was never put on in the first place - it may simply be that the dealer forgot. (The dealers apply the stickers). Or maybe they just stopped doing it for MY2005. Sorry it isn't a definitive answer. There are a couple of chaps on here with Turbo Ss, so maybe one of them could confirm.

Thanks Richard,

been for a drive in it tonight performance is phenomanol, just got to back off for a day or two and make sure I think with head and not just heart.

You're looking in the wrong place :) A bonnet is something that covers the engine ... you should be looking under the boot lid.

(Definition of bonnet: The hood (US) or bonnet (UK) is the hinged cover over the engine of motor vehicles that allows access to the engine compartment for maintenance and repair.)

Seriously though, from PH thread (The factory sticker under the bonnet [sic]) back in March regarding a 2005MY GT3 ...

Just found this on 911uk:

From the 2005 Model year Porsche no longer put the option sticker under the bonnet
so this applies to all 997's and 987 Boxster
AND Also to 2005 chassis year 996

So no need to worry.

HTH.

No, no ... wrong.

My car was registered in 2005 (built in November 2004) (a C4S) and did notr have the sticker in the bonnet when I got the car.

The dealer did not put it in, but left it with the book of the car.

I have since stuck it in, but I think that the dealers stopped putting them in automatically around that time and no 997 cars have them at all.

If your car has all of the original stuff, it may still be loose in the book. But I think anyone familiar with these cars should know that the later cars dont all have stickers.

Thanks all for your confirmation,

Heart won and I've done the deed, Going on holiday at the weekend and will pick her up on my return.

Pics to follow in a couple of weeks
