Bonnet struts. Fair price?

Dico it may be worth using the wanted facility on this web site as you never know somebody might have some not required?[8|]

I was thinking mainly if somebody sold their car and never fitted them. You never know[;)]
ORIGINAL: Dico

Could be an idea, but I doubt folk would have unwanted new ones.

Cheers. Saved to favourite [;)]
Berts name has been mentioned many times on here, must be good.

Bert is the PCGB technical assistant.

I'm sure I'll not upset anyone when I say he's not only a competitive parts supplier but can also save you money if he knows a better deal elsewhere. He can tell you exactly what you need, but will rather send you to the Porsche Centre than just mark up the price and supply it himself.

Or, you could trust e-bay......[&:]

Dico,

Have you bought these yet???

I bought new ones from Bert only to find there was nothing wrong with my own ones. I therefore have a perfect pair sitting gathering dust.

My cab has thermal lining fitted on the underside of the bonnet - so much so it adds weights and even with brand new struts it still closes.

I therefore have my original set.

Would you like them?

Let me know...FB

Thats a kind offer Frazer. I haven't ordered them yet (my list of requirements is getting bigger!). I've heard they are a common fault so I think it may be best to fit new ones (fit and forget). Are Berts original equipment? as the Ebay ones are.
You have me thinking about the lining though. Mine does have lining, its a crumbly foam type so I don't think it could be that heavy. Could it? It gets lighter every time I open the bonnet as more falls away []
Thanks again.

Can Bert supply touch up pens or are they only available from dealers does anyone know?

I went to halfords to match my colour for a touch up stick and came away with an Alfa Romeo grey metalic![&:]As for the spray can I got that mixed specially from my local motor factor.

My lining is the foam type with the silver heat reflective side. The last owner of my had a great policy - if it is not perfect then replace all of it!!! So my lining is brand new but it seemingly does just tip the weight of the bonnet the wrong way. I now have a very nice stainless steel prop which holds up the bonnet - it even fits in a small holder customed on the bulkhead area.

Anyway as regards touch up I went to local Porsche centre. Colour match was done on the car with the code as reference. Matched perfectly so I'd only recommend this.

Cheers...FB

A brief word of warning. I bought some from an unnamed ebay trader as mine were a bit saggy. Fitted them and it completely fubared the electrics and my alarm, rear screen didn't work, interior lights wouldn't go off etc. Turned out the connections were wrong, put the old ones back on and all was well. They are handed and should have the appropriate part numbers on then. I'm sure Berts would but mine didn't!

I bought a pair from Frazer Part last year for £26. I thought this was a very reasonable price for a pair of new gas struts, comparing to what I have to pay at work for similar items. I fitted them and they are spot on. The bonnet balance is great and it will stay in whatever position I put it over 60% or so of it's travel. I was pleased with their service and delivery.
