Boot Lid Badge

Some little scrote pinched the badge off of the front of my car last night!!! Luckily they had the decency to make a clean job of it, so the is no damage to the boot lid or paintwork...

Any ideas what I should be paying for the replacement?

Bad luck; I had a problem with the 'Boxster' script on the rear of my car and it took about 10 minutes of careful [and nervous] planning and work to fix a new one in the right place and securely.

The cost of the badge is something I do not know, but I would advise that you very carefully clean and prepare the area and make sure that there is no glue etc. before afixing a new badge. In my case a liberal use of very hot water to remove all traces of teh glue worked wonders.

Somewhere on the Boxster forum is the sad tale of my lack of technical skill and also very good suggestions as to how to do it correctly. Otherwise ask more questions on this forum; soemone somewhere will have had the same experience.

If this makes you feel better, the Porsche centres on the wheels are also popular - and the police are fed up with having to deal with complaints of theft/criminal damage.

Edited entry - I have just found the Boxster forum dealing with my 'adventures' - it can be found at http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=198738&mpage=1&key=water&#199225 Hope this helps.

I'm gonna take it up to my local OPC on Saturday and see what they quote to replace it.

I had the same problem on my Boxster S with the rear badge...

Luckily not suffered the wheel centre problem just yet! Fingers Crossed.

Nice choice of colour on your car!

I think you'll be looking at around £70 from an OPC, try Porschapart or Eurocarparts instead.
The front badge has no fiddly glue to remove like the 'Boxster' script...it's just a plastic gasket and the badge itself, so should be a lot easier to replace.

Good luck.

You could always replace it with the sticker version of the badge from the 996 GT3 RS and take advantage of the "significant" weight saving opportunities.....
