The lid will not stay up when open.Guess the springs have broken
or stretched.
Is it a big and expensive job to fix the problem myself ?

Shocks are shot, very common, about 60 each, diyable if your handy, alot of trim needs to be removed. Plenty of how to,s out there

I recently had mine done, cold weather seems to cause the problem to first show.
There are 4 shocks: 2 larger for the tailgate and 2 smaller for the glass, they all work together so you should change all 4.
OPC wanted 4 hours labour for the work. My local independent charged 1.5 hours.

Went to Euro Car parts this morning only one shows in their book
and that looks like a body shock absorber ?
i think the OPC quoted well over £1000 to do the job ?
I will go and see them monday ....if too xpensive we have a good Indi locally
it can go there.

The hatch shocks arent handed on a Gen 1, they are about £50 each, they are quite chunky!

Window shocks are £12 each but if you dont use it (and who does?) leave them

I was told that they all work as a set, the glass ones support the main ones. Labour should be the same for all for.

Matthew Thats the one that came up on the Euro Parts screen ?Thanks.
I
ill try and visit an Indi tomorrow after getting a quote from my OPC at Tonbridge .

I have 2 quotes Local Porsche dealer £550 plus VAT
INDI £440 plus VAT both quotes for 4 shocks Neither happy to fit only
the Main large ones .

About £400 all in for the two large ones. The Porsche Center should not insist on the smaller ones unless they are also sagging.

I rarely use the pop up rear window Nick but it does work OK.
I notice my new KN does not have a pop and i cant remember seeing it
mentioned on the options but i wont miss it .
I suppose i could get another quote from an OPC on the struts if another
mentions abquote atv£400'
