Boot light

Can anybody please tell me if you can turn the boot light off when the bonnet is open.

In the showrooms they just pull the wire off the back of the light (it pulls out very easily).
They do this when on display, as the frequently open bonnet runs the battery down of course.

What are your thoughts on rear led lights you can get?



 
You can't get them for the Turbo bodied cars, I also like to keep the car a standard as possible externally, not to mention the cost!!

Most likely the bulb, but the microswith on the latch can stick, which stops the light coming on.

I had the same issue and it was the microswitch. Open the bonnet, then flick the bonnet release catch a few times. Sometimes the microswitch sticks and just needs a little extra movement to budge it. If that doesn't work, try the bulb.
 
Thanks guys - I'll check the bulb and if it has gone I'll definitely look at those replacements Ash - should I disconnect battery before fitting to avoid blown fuses ?!!

I wouldn't bother. The light is clipped into the plastic boot liner, so it is pretty difficlt to get it to short on anything. If you want to be sure, just pull the fuse, which will isolate the supply to the light.
