Boot release

Hey people, was wondering if anyone can help?? my '85 944 boot will not open, it used too but then all of sudden it just stopped, I was wondering if you had any ideas of why. The electric switch works fine as you can hear the mechanism trying to open the boot lock in the back but the boot dosent open that way.Its anoying not having it work properly, because its lovely car.

Help would be great
